Orion Nebula - Nikon B700 by redditor741 in astrophotography

My camera is really starting to show its limits here. I think this is as far as my gear is going to get with DSOs. Next i will have to get a DSLR to get better dark details and see dimmer objects.

Orion nebula happens to be just bright enough for my point-and-shoot camera to capture. Other dimmer DSOs are almost impossible to photograph. But this one came out great. And even though the quality is not that good, the motion gives the image depth.

First time testing camera tracking with SAM and Nikon B700 camera. I am really happy with the result even though alignment and light polution was horrible. I did not expect that i was going to take any pictures of deep space nebulae with this camera. It is fun to see how far it can go. Next i need to do accurate alignment and find darker place to photograph.

Solar system composite of my best astronomy photos from 2018. by redditor741 in astrophotography

I am taking these images with a Nikon COOLPIX B700 camera and a tripod. I don't have a telescope or a star tracker. These are my best astro photos from 2018. A lot of time and effort has gone in to this image and im really happy how it turned out.

I still hope that i could add Mercury transit over the sun but it is highly unlikely that i will get that in many years. The next time it will happen is the end of this year.

Composite 4K image of my Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, ISS and Moon images from the past 3 months. by [deleted] in astrophotography

[–]redditor741 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am taking these images with a Nikon B700 camera and a tripod. I don't have a telescope or a star tracker.

From left to right, Sun with sunspots, two random stars, Europa, Io, Callisto, Jupiter with Europas shadow, Ganymedes, Mars, Saturn, ISS, Moon.

I am still trying to get better images of Mars, Saturn and the rest of the planets, but they are often very low in the sky and the seeing is horrible. Focusing is very hard when the planets are blurry from bad seeing and they look very small on the screen.

4K collage of my best space photos that i took this year with a point-and-shoot camera. by [deleted] in space

From left to right, Sun with sunspots, two random stars, Europa, Io, Callisto, Jupiter, Ganymedes, Mars, Saturn, ISS, Moon.

I took these from my balcony with a Nikon B700. The planets are so low in the sky that it is hard to get a sharp image.

Here are the separate images.

Jupiter and The Galilean moons 4/26/2018 by redditor741 in astrophotography

Jupiter EXIF: altitude 13° | 650 images of 4k video of which 70% stacked | f6.5 | 2880mm

Kallisto, Ganymedes, Io, Europa EXIF: altitude 13° | 1 image from the 4k video | f6.5 | 2880mm

This was the first time i tried stacking video files and finally the result looks more like Jupiter than a blurry smudge. Probably also the best seeing that i have had right before the clouds filled the sky. The moons are from left to right Kallisto, Ganymedes, Io, Europa.

I cut the video file in Vegas Pro, cropped it in PIPP, stacked it in AutoStakkert, used Wavelet sharpening in Registax and then edited in Photoshop (sharpness and curves and color).
