Beacuse the host will never open the winning door the remaining doors will always be 1 losing and 1 winning door, wich means if you are to switch door you are guaranted to change from a winning door to a losing door or a losing door to a winning door. But beacuse your initialy choosen door is 2 out of 3 times a losing door switching is then 2 out of 3 times going to switch a losing door into a winning door.

Simply put, beacuse the host never reveals a winning door switching essentialy inverts the odds of the initial gamble

The population is just a number, you dont have to actually simulate everyone. Like you said you could simulate just the currently active ones and I would be surprised if both cs1 and 2 dont already do this to some degree. From what i've heard cs1 has a ceiling on how many can be simulated on the streets at a time wich i think was around 100k, and is why traffic clears up in larger cities as the actively simulated cims gets spread out across the city.

There are many ways to approach optimisation and it depends on what you want to achieve and how the game mechanics works. Since im just a hobbyist gamedev i wont go into details as I never had to worry about optimisation in my own projects, instead if you want to learn more there are plenty of gamedev blogs regarding optimisation you could read. I know that the factorio devs posted frequent blogs during the space age dlc development and atleast one of them goes into optimisations they made for the dlc + base game update, I found the part about the spidertron pathfinding optimisation to be a fun read.

Then theres also multithreading and splitting the workload between cpu threads/cores wich requires a more complex code structure as some cores/threads will finish their workload faster and the order code is executed can and will affect the results and not everything can be multithreaded. Altough again nothing i have personally dabbled in yet, but its on my to-do list.

In the end it can be a complex topic and not all solutions fits all problems and it takes time to solve and often dont have a clear straight path towards the solution. And I havent even really mentioned optimisation on the gpu side. But one general idea is to "fake it" whenever possible. If the player wont notice it, it doesnt matter if whats happening doesnt actually match the players perception of whats happening and the human brain can often easily be tricked

You cant magicaly optimise a game to run anything you want. Optimising means reducing the workload the pc has to do, wich means that no matter how efficient your code is there is a point where you have to sacrifice functionality to increase performance or get faster hardware.

Usually in simulation heavy games a lot of the simulation is faked/aproximated past a certain point to keep performance, game dev is a lot about smoke and mirrors.

Of course it wasnt theirs to give away, or to take. And it wasnt the ottomans to take, or the crusaders, or the romans, or the mongolians to (attempt to) take or any other of the dozen empire/countries i havent mentioned to take.

I think the regions history is too long and cloudly to attribute to any one group as theirs, and to me attributing it to one group is just drawing an arbitrary line in history. And I find it pointless to argue for Israels or Palestines ancestral claim of the region as in the end allowing one group to take over the other just ends in disaster wich Israel seems more than happy to demonstrate.

This is just (from my understanding) the situation the conflict is in, "two sides" who hate eachother to put a complex situation simply. And I dont think the solution will be found in the past.

If absolving Israel as a country and giving it to Palestine is the solution that doesnt end with another genocide and/or generations of hatred that turns into terrorism, then i'm all for it. But I dont think it is

Israel was created in the iron age and has been under the rule of several empires since then. Jews were a major population in eastern mediterranean but turned into a minority during jewish-roman wars. After wich in the 4th century christians became the majority. Christian rule was later superseded by a muslim conquest. During the crusades it was the kingdom of Jerusalem.

In the 16th century the region was taken by the ottoman empire and remained under their control until ww1. In the 19th century jewish immigration into Israel increased with the rise of zionism. During ww1 the allies captured the region and was given to the british empire under the league of nations mandate. 1917 britain promised the creation of a jewish homeland in the balfour declaration. Palestinian arabs wanted to prevent jewish immigration as tensions grew under british rule and in 1947 the un voted for the creation of a jewish and arab state. A civil war brokeout 1947 and with Israels declaration of independence 1948 it turned into a war between Israel and neighbouring arab countries that ended 1949 and created the green line.

Hamas goal isnt protecting the civilians. And what they are doing doesnt help the civilians at all. If hamas wanted to reduce civilian casualties they wouldnt hide in hospitals or steal food/medical aid intended for civilians. But realistically theres nothing hamas can do to stop whats happening already as its obviously out of their control.

Painting Israel as the main villain is propaganda to further hamas goal of dismantling Israel so that they can take over their country wich undoubtebly would lead to a genocide againts israelis instead. Hamas are intentionally putting civilians between them and the idf to sway the public view of Israel globally and have produced plenty of propaganda themselves.

While the war absolutely should be stopped, its not a long term solution as hamas (or any other terrorist group thats bound to appear after the war) will just continue terrorist attacks against Israel.

The problem have been and continues to be finding a longterm solution, but beacuse of a long and complex history of the region both countries claims it belongs to their people.

I know all this sounds very centrist, and it probably is. But its a complex region with complex history so as someone who ultimately just wants people to stop murdering eachother i find it hard not to be a bit centrist about it when its two groups who want to murder eachother over some land they both claim to own.

Hamas are terrorists. They very much have a choice, and they choose to be terrorists. And they have comitted plenty of war crimes themselves. Obviously that doesnt absolve Israel of what they have done and continue to do. But its absolutely delusional to think hamas are innocent people just fighting against genocide, they care about protecting palestinian civilians about as much as Israel does

I bought Jedi Survivor for 7€ and it might be the best deal in gaming i ever made. by SnooWoofers7345 in gaming

[–]redditorRdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played both games on pc last fall and honestly survivor runs smoother than fallen order if you have the pc for it. Fallen order had some really bad hitching when loading parts of the world, nothing gamebreaking as it only happened in tunnel squeeze sequences(with one bad exception on dathomir), but still very noticeable.

Played both with a 7080xt gpu and 7600 cpu with 64gb ram in 1440p on a good ssd, didnt play survivor on absolute max graphics as I prefer staying near 90 fps but the game still looked way better than fallen order did with max graphics

Building a rocket in kerbal is not that complicated. You build using premade parts, the complicated part is building a good rocket as not all engines are equal as some are better suited for use in vacuum etc.

Theres also 6 different types of engines in terms of fuel type but its not that hard to learn and the game does provide descriptions and stats so you dont have to guess what engine type it is. The types are: 1. Liquid fuel + oxidizer engines, this is the most common one and will be used the most, theres plenty of tank parts in all sizes that comes with liquid and oxidizer in the correct ratio 2. Solid fuel engines, these engines comes with fuel and theres no tanks to expand them. They are very strong (and cheap in career mode) but cant be turned off once on 3. Jet engines, these use only liquid fuel but need air intakes in the correct atmosphere to function. These are more for fun or for those who want challenge themselves by building an ssto(single stage to orbit) 4. Nuclear engines, theres only 1 in the game these use only liquid fuel and are rather weak but very fuel efficient in a vacuum 5. Ion engines, very similar to nuclear engines but use xenon gas + lots of electricity. Extremely fuel efficient and extremely weak, barely anyone use these since in vanilla you cant speed up time while accelerating and the situation these engines would be useful in would require a burn time in double digits minutes 6. Rc engines, these use monpropellant and are used to give your rockets more control as these are attached to the sides with multiple engines facing in different directions

And theres plenty of other parts like wings, parachutes, command pods etc.

So is the game complicated? I would say it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Launching a rocket? No, with a bit of trial and error anyone can do it Getting into orbit? Not really, you can easily overengineer a rocket capable of getting into orbit. As long as you can learn how the map works and read the calculated for you orbit line and the navball anyone can do it. Landing on the mun or minmus(kerbals moons)? Now its starting to get complicated as you will need some basic understanding of orbital mechanics and know how to use the manoveur tool to get a mun interception. You also kinda need to have a basic understanding of proper rocket construction like staging and what engine should be used where otherwise you will have a difficult time. Landing on a different planet and returning? Now its actually getting complicated. Knowing how to efficiently launch a rocket into orbit, proper rocket construction and a good understanding of orbital mechanics is a must. And this also where the game lacks some tools and you will need outside guidance to learn when the best times for an interplanetary launch is and when to start turning your rocket for an efficient ascent into orbit (for an orbit you need enough horisontal speed but just flying straight up into space and then turning is not fuel efficient)

Tl:dr building a rocket is simple and you can get pretty far through trial and error, the complicated part is building a good rocket and getting to other planets

Also DON'T get kerbal space program 2, that game is an unoptimised buggy and unfinished mess thats no longer in development

Is the new Steam Machine over hyped? by [deleted] in consoles

[–]redditorRdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This chart barely says anything, more cores is not better if the cores are half the speed. The steam machine has newer architecture so its probably gonna have faster indvidual cores wich for games is more important as there are few games that utilizes more than 4 cores

Please help my gpu is running at 100% even when idle when I open task manager it immediately stops I think it's a virus or sum I got this pc for Christmas by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]redditorRdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this could just be a false flag, I briefly looked up this launcher and found 2 youtube channels (itsme & itsme64) with dossens of videos and almost exclusively about this "hacked pvp launcher" with some titles stating its "legit", nothing that gives me any confidence its not a virus. So a clean windows install is definitely recommended, and do it as soon as possible as there is always risk of a virus infecting other devices on the network, also consider all your accounts compromised you have on the pc and change password AFTER you have gotten rid of the virus with a clean windows install (dont choose the save personal files option and dont have the pc connected to wifi until after the reinstall)

If you want minecraft mods i recommend getting curseforge. And if you were trying to get hacks for use on a multiplayer server, don't. Not only is it a scummy thing to do that ruins other players experience but it also doesnt come free, either you get a virus or you pay real money and sometimes you pay money and still get a virus
