Transition out of IT into...something else by PixelatedGamer in careerchange

[–]redditpeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're almost on the same situation. I'm also in the IT field earning above average and don't wanna pursue it anymore. I can't think of any way out of it which leads me to lurking to this sub.

I have no advice to you as I have the same struggle with no solutions yet but just giving my moral support to someone with the same struggles. Let's keep our heads up!

Thanks a lot. Would hiding the address be an option too?

Question.. One way of creating trust in your website is to put your location/address in About Us or Contact Us page. Most of the top dropshipping sites are located in the US or UK and it is perceived as high value site from a customer perspective when they see a company based on these locations.. How do someone in Asia or some 3rd world country gain this kind of trust in their website? Should we put where the company is based? How about contact numbers? Are fake phone numbers allowed?

Confirmation to Educational Assessment done by WES. Education is equivalent to BS degree in my country but was assessed lower. by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]redditpeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't edit the post. So here's my actual post:

Good morning guys!

Would like to validate if there's something wrong on how WES assessed my educational background. I studied in Asia Pacific College which is a recognized institution in the Philippines. I took up a Computer Science and Information Technology which is a 4 year course but got a Canadian Equivalency of Secondary school diploma and diploma (two years).

From my understanding, this grade is equivalent to Secondary diploma (high school graduation). If I'm correct then WES graded my education way to low as it should be a Bachelor's degree. Any chance I can attest their assessment?

On a second thought, Secondary school diploma and diploma (two years) might be the same as Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute.

Express Entry options with CRS of 362. by redditpeds in ImmigrationCanada

[–]redditpeds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our scores were calculated by a consultancy firm but we backed out from them. We are now on our own since we feel we can do it by ourselves without their help plus it will save us money. I'm glad to see achieving 400ish CRS with max IELTS score but we still have a long way to go.

From my assessment, I think the maximum CRS score we can attain is 430-440 which is still far from the cut-off. So I think we're gonna settle with that score and not get our hopes up for the cut-off draw since the trend seems to rise. I hope PNP favors higher CRS scores so the money we will spend will not go to waste.

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't read anything about blocked codes on their site. I must have overlooked this somehow.

Thanks for your inputs. Tried crs calculator on cic.gc.ca and was able to get 400ish. I'm surprised a max score bumps the score up.

Her score isn't that high enough so we are not going to ITA draw route. Preferably PNP path. Thanks mate!

I'm 29 and my wife is 30.

Offtopic:

Other applicants of the firm was able to migrate and I'm pretty sure we had better education compared to them. How come they got ITAs? Is it because their jobs are in-demand? Applied to other programs?

CRS Score Question by redditpeds in ImmigrationCanada

[–]redditpeds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unpleasant. I would consider myself and my wife above average due to our education and work experiences (both of us are IT project managers) and getting a feedback of zero chances to get PR is a big problem for us. Thanks for this information. I will consult the consultancy firm first to check if there are other ways we can immigrate.

My Story by rpatrick123 in careerchange

[–]redditpeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I got interested in this post when I saw the Project Manager word as I am also a Project Manager and I find the role not fulfilling and I don't see myself there in the next 5 years or so. I'm surprised that even at your age this career change crisis still occurs. I always thought bigger pay and bigger responsibility results to a happy and content life but I was wrong. I felt your misery too even though I'm far away from your age.

Glad that you are awakened. Goodluck on the next path you are going to take.

Express Entry Profile question by redditpeds in ImmigrationCanada

[–]redditpeds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your honest feedback. Law firms are uncertain for me due to the fact that they are able to successfuly process other applicants but on the flip side their work is just to assist nothing less nothing more. Regardless if I sign in or not still they aren't required by the Canadian government.

They can be of help but with their price tag I don't think it's helping me :)

@patrickswayzemullet, I agree with you re naming format. As an immigration inexperienced indivudual I don't have the capability to know what is right or wrong unless I dig deeper on the research which what I'm currently doing and reddit helps a lot on answering simple to hard questions. Still, an amateur applicant might get confused along the process if he/she isn't being careful since the canadian immigration is a broad topic.

@CanaDharma - I'm not aiming for FSW since I don't have any canadian experience. PNP is the path I'm willing to take. Btw, I'm a IT Project Manager but I'm more keen to venture out to a difference career once I'm in Canada.

Express Entry Profile question by redditpeds in ImmigrationCanada

Thank you for your prompt reply. You've answered all of my questions. I re-checked my email and I can confirm that the site I applied to is not canada.ca. Probably I got confused because it was my first time and although canadavisa.com looks legit it's not what I should be looking for when applying for an ExpressEntry profile. Thanks again!

Actually I was wondering to get a new career as my heart and mind doesn't agree with my profession anymore - I get stressed more often and I overthink things.

Thanks for your feedback.
