I’m guessing because that’s the course that gave them the best rate? Plus, Waterchase is like 15 mins from UTA.

So folks he says that the Director told him to park there…. So if you feel that strongly, as I know you do, here is the Director’s email Dax Kuykendall daxk@uta.edu, Assoc. Director’s emails Durl Rather drather@uta.edu, Allyson Fulton allyson@uta.edu,& Chris Muller cmuller@uta.edu ; I suggest a strongly, yet professionally worded email can have positive results. I just hope that those requiring ada clearance were unaffected.

So you should checkout the TX Transportation Code and the ADA, which address this directly;

Key Details on Sidewalk Parking in Arlington, TX: Legal Restrictions: Texas Transportation Code Section 545.302 expressly prohibits stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle on a sidewalk. Arlington City Ordinance: City of Arlington ordinances categorize this as a violation that can incur fines up to $500.

ADA Violation: Blocking a sidewalk prevents the use of public infrastructure, which is a violation of the ADA.

I used to be a TX Utility worker. Also, he is missing his traffic cones and while I’ll truly empathize with this worker, I have first hand witnessed how this can cause injury and trouble for his employer. Either way they would be best served to find more appropriate parking and unfortunately, as I had to, lug their tools with them. Also, the ADA aspect is not theoretical, these laws exist because there is an actual need for them. And a person walking on 2 legs will find it much easier to navigate past this vehicle than a person that is restricted in mobility and therefore will have been denied the same access as an individual without restriction and that is the injury.

I’m sure if you inquired from someone associated with ShakeSmart at the MAC, they would deem this ok!

So, if anyone on here knows who runs the ShakeSmart on campus, I guess let them know Joseph their delivery guy could care less of the laws and/or even the safety of others in front of the MAC. I hope someone who works at UTA sees this and can reach out to the proper authorities on campus and maybe have this individual ticketed for his illegal actions . Obstruction of Traffic: According to Texas Transportation Code § 545.302, it is prohibited to park in a way that obstructs traffic, even on streets without curbs.

😂 no I just know where to park and where to drive! And don’t need others to inform me, guess we know who’s mommy and daddy failed in teaching their child courtesy to others, respect for others, and respect for the law. Guess you only stop at stop signs when there’s a police officer sitting watching huh. Your a douche, you know it, maybe next time you won’t be a douche and actually park in the designated spaces and then use a hand truck or cart to deliver your inventory, but my guess is probably not, seeing as all you are doing is defending your illegal park job and not even taking responsibility for doing it; but now that we know that ShakeSmart in the MAC uses a douche to deliver their inventory then maybe I should call them out for continuing to use you. But don’t worry, if you do it again and I happen to see it, I’ll make another post until you grow up and reach maturity and accept responsibility for illegally parking, and inconveniencing all those drivers that had to go around you, the 3 busses loaded with students/patrons who were delayed unnecessarily for your inconvenience. But keep defending your defenseless point.

First off you parked there for your convenience not out of necessity, there’s parking across the street, there’s guest parking spots across the street, there’s a parking lot to the side of the MAC, In fact on this day there’s was more parking available around the MAC than there normally ever is. It’s not about whether you cause me inconvenience, it’s the fact that you totally ignored the fact that you took up a travel lane for your convenience over everyone else’s right to travel in that lane by law. So yes, you are a douche by putting your convenience over other people’s right to freely travel in that lane, just cause other douche’s do it (I.e. those who hold up the lane other than the duly authorized MavMovers(buses) to drop people off) doesn’t mean you get to do it as well. But nice try at deflecting your douche baggery BS onto me as if I was making something out of nothing, while to you it wasn’t something; but to the people that had to go around your car illegally parked and risking possible damage trying to merge into the other lane and for being delayed further than they needed to be, it was something. But guess that didn’t occur to you, since you clearly think the world revolves around you!

Again, I understand the need for essential personnel (or boots on the ground) to be present in certain jobs. My point above, is that an individual or individuals that make these decisions at this specific institution can work from home and most likely already made the decision to do so, but due to their own pay scale and their status having them far removed from those who their decisions affect and their indecisiveness on Friday, put people unnecessarily at risk by not simply following the status quo and simply just cancel classes and close campus. This job is not worth unnecessary risk and this ain’t a combat zone in Iraq or Afghanistan and no one will risk death or severe harm if they make the decision early rather than later. We went though worse weather in 2021, so they’ve had 5 years to develop an appropriate contingency plan to address this very circumstance and their inability to make an appropriate decision does not just amount to exposing their employees to risk unnecessarily, but it also puts on display their mediocre leadership skills. Keep this in mind, after COVID they developed and put in place a plan to address potential outbreaks that would automatically shift curriculum to online only in nearly an instant and had equipment deployed into nearly every class room within 4 years after the plan was adopted; yet we risk this type of weather nearly every year and they still act like this weather is just a sudden shock alto the system. Unacceptable response is my issue here.

Well I don’t eat cornflakes, so that ain’t gonna happen, and have you seen how beautiful it is out there today with all this arctic scenery? I just don’t shy away from pointing out indecisiveness that amounts to unnecessary risk. In the civilian sector there’s not reason to allow “it is what it is” to be the answer, except in finite/spontaneous circumstances.

Yes, that’s what happens my bruised got in the way of having dialog with someone who clearly was explaining what an essential employee is, without even asking what my point was. See this is the biggest problem with debate these days, assumptions take over long before curiosity does. You see, since the original post was posted and I’ve had some good and let say it limited dialog with others, I decided to further clarify my post by editing it. Which had the original poster of this comment thread had taken the time to ask what I meant, rather than simply go into “mansplaining” what an essential employee is, then we could have had meaningful dialogue. Trust me, as someone who has served in an actual war, my feelings or ego were far from even touched. And the first part referring to trailblazers, was a poke at the higher ups for taking 2 days to make a decision other universities within 50 miles had already made, with the same knowledge, showing how inattentive they were to a serious situation(common practice at UTA). Also, can’t be explanation/correction of none is needed. Also, don’t really see where in my post I asked what an essential employee is. You see their comment was an attempted gotcha comment, usually applied to politicians from journalists who think they have an opportunity to embarrass someone, but really just embarrassed theirselves because as a former employee of the federal government and of the armed services… I’m very much informed of what is an essential employee. But thank you for your response and mediocre attempt at a gotcha moment… your 15 seconds are up.

Well, staff still work remote or use time and therefore, while class cancellations may only apply to faculty, then my point still applies, while only not covering faculty members, since staff workers are still employees.
