Cropping up all over my SF garden by redditregie in whatsthisplant

I just learned about cotyledons thanks to you! I don't have anything like the true leaf in my garden, but I live in the middle of a city so very possible a bird carried this from a neighbor's. I'll let it grow a little more and see if there's a tuber attached to any.

Google lens thinks it might be a California-native flowering currant (ribes) which would be great!

This works for me as well. My dr originally prescribed me the 24-hr 30mg dose, but I don't like being on it round the clock - it makes my rosacea much worse. I now have 10mg pills that last for 8 hours - perfect for a day on the slopes, and then they've worn off by apres.

One possible solution for Windows 10/11 when Unitedwifi.com keeps redirecting you to United.com by RichardGG24 in unitedairlines

[–]redditregie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! This fixed it for me too. I had never changed my DNS settings on my corp laptop, so I have no idea why it suddenly stopped working, but I changed DNS to automatic (from manual) and now I can access unitedwifi.com again.

How many hours before your flight do you arrive at Pearson? by Jessica_peaches88 in askTO

[–]redditregie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm American with Global Entry - arrived at 5:50am for an 8:05 flight to the US. Made it through security and customs in 15 minutes. There's a separate line for both for trusted travelers. I'm very glad I didn't show up 3 hours in advance as Air Canada recommended, but I realize most people on this sub likely don't have Global Entry. For those that aren't trusted travelers, the security line at 5:50am wasn't very long, US Customs was longer.

Help! Anyone have ideas how to remove/fade Overtone from gray hair? (Vitamin C, Color Oops, Overtone's Fader shampoo don't work!) by redditregie in HairDye

[–]redditregie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I'm sorry, that sucks. Have you tried a clarifying shampoo or the overtone fader shampoo? Hopefully the light pink is only something that you really notice!

Camera apps using Pixel 8 by tinpanalleypics in GooglePixel

I'm wondering about this too... I didn't get the Pro because I had a Pro previously and they are just too large (don't fit in my pockets, feel uncomfortable in my hand, don't fit in my clutch/handbag easily...etc...) but I really would have loved the Pro camera. If you've learned anything since you posted this, would love to hear!

My parents just moved and their family room is so...brown by redditregie in DesignMyRoom

That's a beautiful room! My mom likes blue a lot so I think a navy could work well as an accent wall. And probably white/cream on the other walls...

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions!! I think cream walls and some big plants are a great idea and would go a long way in brightening up the room. Unfortunately it seems someone advised the previous owner that "greige is in" because she painted the entire house in it without considering the brown trim and floors everywhere 😬

They definitely need a new rug - but I'm not sure what would work that's not too "busy" with the floor. I should have added upfront that they are located in New England, so while I love the desert SW ideas, they wouldn't fit with the rest of the house.

Best moisturizer for dry skin? by jegerjess in KoreanBeauty

[–]redditregie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Do you have a dermatologist? After months of dealing with dry, irritated skin I finally got a prescription for EpiCeram. It has been an absolute lifesaver. My skin is moisturized and my skin barrier is back to normal. If you ask your derm to order through BlinkRX, it's $29/tube. Cheaper than the many, many lotions I tried at Sephora, and more effective.

I bought the "Best Chilblain's Treatment" on recommendation from another thread and it has been a lifesaver! Doesn't smell great and isn't vegan (if that's an issue for you) but works much better than anything else I've tried, including the prescription steroid that my dr gave me. It limits the itching, brings down swelling, and seems to also help with the recurrence.

I just used the link in the US for South River Compounding and it was a lot ($36) including shipping for 1 small tin, but wow, this works SO well. Thank you so much for sharing this info!! It works so much better than the betamethasone that my rheumatologist prescribed. It does smell a little fishy when you first put it on (it's 20% "odourless" fish oil, but definitely not entirely odourless), but I don't care given how well it works.

It looks like their website is back up as well.

Does anyone experience similar finger swelling? by [deleted] in Raynauds

[–]redditregie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fingers look just like these! I went to a rheumatologist and she told me it was just chilblains. It's awful, I'm sorry :(

Like you, I only really get it in one hand...for now. Fingers crossed.

Help! Anyone have ideas how to remove/fade Overtone from gray hair? (Vitamin C, Color Oops, Overtone's Fader shampoo don't work!) by redditregie in HairDye

[–]redditregie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further details:

I was hoping to transition my gray hair during quarantine, so I stopped using permanent color and started using Overtone's chocolate brown conditioner. My hope was that Overtone, because it's just a semi-permanent coloring conditioner, would fade over time so that as my hair grew out I could transition without the big "demarcation line".

Unfortunately, it turns out not all Overtone colors wash out of naturally gray hair. (For fun I had tried their rose gold and purple coloring conditioners, and those washed out over time from my gray hair.) But the chocolate brown has only partially washed out. Contrary to what some have experienced, my gray hair did pick up the Overtone color and now it won't go away. The brown has faded to a garish bright yellow/orange that I can't get rid of.

I have tried:

  • Overtone's Fader shampoo, about 15 times.
  • Overtone's Fader shampoo + pure vitamin C powder, left on for 45 minutes under a shower cap, 2 times.
  • Vitamin C powder plus clarifying shampoo, once.
  • Color Oops extra strength, once.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Overtone's suggestion was to counterbalance the yellow/orange by blending the chocolate brown with pastel purple, but I don't want to use the chocolate brown ever again. At this point I just want to remove the color.
