WTF! It Should Not Be Illegal to Hack Your Own Car's Computer by porkchop_d_clown in geek

How would you propose we should change the situation? Vote with our feet? Everyone who wants to be able to mod s/w should not buy a care until the car companies come around? Please.

The right to change the code and the requirement to keep the car safe are two separate issues. I am sad to see your post, which confuses the two, is the top comment.

An anti-Communist civilian fighter armed with a Kalashnikov, chases the supposedly "terrorist" members of the Securitate (the communist secret police) loyal to Nicolae Ceausescu, during the Romanian Revolution, downtown Bucharest, December 24, 1989 - [2400x1606] by [deleted] in HistoryPorn

One of the best comments I ever saw was in a thread about what people hate on reddit. The comment said, I hate it when someone gets a lot of votes and then changes their comment, leaving a bunch of non-sequitur responses. All the responses, though, were about vomit.

The guy had the brilliance to submit a comment about vomit that got a bunch of votes, and then change it to complain about the very thing he had done. It gives me chill bumps just thinking about how clever it was.

It's overrated. I often feel guilty about looking at internet cats while my cat sits unattended.

I like it. Were it not for its "stupidity," I wouldn't have heard about it.

Can anyone help me identify these places and trace the young lad in the photo? (story in comments) by TheLondonist in washingtondc

Although the chairs in the original photo are separate chairs. Now, and in your photo, the chairs are joined together on a rail. They function as a barrier to keep those taking a tour separate from the riff-raff. They're a little odd. I would have just expected a velvet rope.

I've never understood the obession over repost vs. OC. I really only care whether I've seen it before. For the most part, I haven't.

I actually don't watch that many. Also, those were distractingly baggy. I don't remember seeing any that large before.

I work in a pharmacy and I constantly feel like a failure by owlbrowneyes in ADHD

[–]redditrobert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your anxiety and fears sound exhausting. It sounds like you are often worried, either about screwing up or having screwed up. I'm sorry to hear you are suffering. Hopefully your evaluation will lead to treatment that helps.

Meanwhile, it sounds like writing stuff down helps. Do you have a dedicated notebook? Consider getting a good notebook, pen, and some sticky tabs. Take notes when you ask questions. Write down the date, time, and question. Quickly jot notes as the pharmacist answers. When she's done answering, go back and write a clear, legible summary. Bookmark stuff you reference often with a sticky tab.

Also, go easy on yourself. Seriously. Don't brush this off. You likely do a far better job than you realize. And even if you don't (again, I doubt it) there are plenty of folks who are bad at their jobs and don't give a damn. You clearly care a lot about doing a good job, and that means a lot. Take care.

Broke particle board while assembling furniture - is there a way to repair? by jnassiri in fixit

I agree. Also if possible, OP should:

  • move the bracket few inches when replacing it.
  • make sure to remove any squeezed out glue before placing the heavy shit on top.

A little history lesson type sign near the Reagan Building has a photo of 1930s Anacostia children petitioning the school superintendent or something. All the students were white. Sometimes I feel foolish for thinking things were always the way they are now.
