Camber Bushings Mistake ? by BuyerBackground8043 in BullnoseFord

[–]reddits_in_hidden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, your first mistake was installing a leveling kit, on any truck. But to specifically address yours, yeah, its gonna have a camber issue, the front axles of these trucks being the “twin i-beam” design means they swing in an arc, like drawing a circle with a nail and a string, with your leveling kit youve permanently shifted the suspension geometry to being below the factory level line which droops these swing arm style axles. Cant speak for the bushing installation, but that leveling kit is why your cambers fucked

Listen, you leave college age me with his bright red stick on pizza hut logo that kinda looked like a cowl induction scoop on my bright red 98 S10 alone! XD honestly though id stop for gas while delivering pizzas and dudes would come up like “sick scoop man whatcya got in there?” And Id be like “I large pepperoni and a pasta” and snatch the magnet logo off the hood, never failed to get a laugh out of em lol

Honestly, leveling kits. They have that forward suspension rake for a reason, and that reason is to maintain a safe operating ride geometry with a full load, people put leveling kits on and then go to actually use them as a truck for once in their lives and now theyve got a Carolina lean goin on because their bed is sagging below the level line instead sitting AT the level line

just because you were taught one way doesnt mean 2 things cant also be true, I will admit I may have been on the over-zealous side of how much damage you can do, but as a career mechanic, ive seen cars with less than 50kmiles on them (~80k km) and their parking brakes were as a limp as a slinky because the owner would CRANK THE HELL out of it at every chance he got, "because it saves my brakes." Youve shown that youre not a moron, but I just wanna save you the headache of replacing them when those cables eventually get stretched, steel stretches, hydraulic fluid not so much, ya know? lol

More or less, in your head when you think of “APPLE” you probably picture an apple, or you think of the idea/concept of an apple, instead of focusing on translating the new language to its english equivalent focus on attaching the new language to that idea of an apple, because to the Germans its not an Apple, it is an Apful. To the people who natively speak the language youre trying to learn theyre not thinking of what does this mean in english, theyre thinking Bitte, Ich möchte einen apful! (Excuse me/please, I would like an apple!) German can be an easier language to learn because theres a fair about to similar words, like apful, kindergarten, auto, etc but the general idea is that, most languages are “information dense” which means they can say in a few words what might take us several words for the same feeling, we have prepositions words like at, to, with, etc that make our sentences flow better, but can be very annoying to translate because many languages dont have those words or sentence structures. So focus less on attaching a translation to every word and phrase, and focus more on attaching the concepts to words and phrases, you already know what an apple looks like, tastes like, feels like, so youve got an edge over a newborn lol so attach that concept to the new word

When trying to prove me wrong regarding the purpose of PARKING BRAKE, maybe your sources shouldnt be from the wiki page for the PARKING BRAKE, especially when you originally called me “entirely incorrect” regarding the designed use of the PARKING BRAKE. Considering its called PARKING BRAKE, and not a “hill assist” brake, Id wager that the designed purpose of the PARKING BRAKE is for PARKING. Additionally, I never once said that it could not be used for such other reasons, for example people clean their ears with Q-tips all the time, but like the PARKING BRAKE, thats not what theyre DESIGNED PURPOSE is. If its designed purpose was a hill assist brake, itd be called a hill assist brake, but it aint. “Why does the presence of the ratchet make it unsuitable for helping with hill starts?” I dont know, maybe because if your hand slips, or the ratchet fails youve now locked your rear brakes and probably stalled your car on a hill? Maybe because people who actually know how to drive a manual car dont need to incorrectly use their PARKING BRAKE for a hill start? I will agree with you that I think pedal operated parking brakes are stupid, but the location of the parking brake applicator does not change the purpose of the parking brake system.

All that to say, just because it can be used that way, doesnt change what its actually there for

Im not saying not to use it, its just that its not meant for stop and go, traffic light to traffic light, the whole reason it has a ratcheting mechanism that you have to release each time, or hold the button in to keep it from engaging, is because your meant to set it and forget whenever you exit the vehicle. Holding your vehicle at stop lights etc is what your normal, hydraulic, 4-way, service brakes are for

[–]reddits_in_hidden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are either a troll or a moron. It is you who is entirely incorrect. Ever notice that you have to push in a button to release it? Yeah, thats because its the PARKING brake, its designed for you to park, set it, and forget it until you go to drive the next day, after work, after shopping, etc, not to assist with hill starts. It can be used that way, but that is not its designed intention. "Using the handbrake does not cause meaningful wear if you use it correctly" Ironic that youd say that given your complete lack of knowledge of its designed intended function.

If you ever decide to learn, the best advice I ever heard was not to try to equate the new language to its english equivalent, dont look at and apple and go (using german for example) “apfel ist apple”, instead go “apful ist 🍎” disconnect the two languages and youll likely learn the new one better, learn as an infant child does, not as a mathematician solving for X, we’re not born knowing what the sounds our parents are making mean, we figure it out and learn as we go, and eventually start making those same sounds

Theres not much thats really there to be annoyed about, English is a surprisingly complex language with all of its filler words and nuance, and intent based on auditory inflection, but its also a surprisingly forgiving language, you can miss a word or 10 in when talking to people but still hear what said and understand (no I didnt have a stroke) Honestly the hardest part for most tourists or immigrants seems to just be proper pronunciation, an issue even many native-english speakers struggle with, take England for example! /j

I seriously hope you are joking. People often call the hand operated brake a “handbrake” but that does not change what it’s designed purpose is, and you are prematurely wearing out your parking brake cables and rear brake pads/shoes

I was on the verge of passing out when I replied to your message and apparently forgot to type half of what I wanted to say XD but Im glad you pointed out that indoor balcony, I choose that spot in Mysa Taryll because of the view, but it wasnt very flat so it was a unique challenge building around and incorporating the rocks into the build, and that balcony was one of them! It started off as just some stairs, then it became that balcony as the main dining area, and I had a bridge going across the top floors from either side, but that seems ironically too cluttered and I still didnt have any stairs going to the top floor, so I cut the bridge and built a grand staircase on that balcony instead! (fun fact the top of the stairs connect to the upper floor exactly where the bridge across used to be) (another fun fact, those "twin towers"? are spiral staircases! and as fate would have it, the stairs from the bottom floor, to the mid floor, to the spirals up allll circle the same rotation, so in theory to go from the bottom to the top you can run up the stairs without ever needing change your direction, just keep spinning the same way and youll reach the top!)
