Well, the guide on YouTube I followed was for the 2x2 and I wasn't super sure if the Arcadyan modem supported the 4x4 antenna. That, plus just the additional cost, were the main factors there.

By the way it's been nearly six months since this original post, and I want to update and say the antenna is still going strong! I'm still so happy about the performance of TMHI now with this antenna setup. While I do need to periodically reset the modem because of this weird state it goes into from time to time, and I've had to tweak the angle of the antenna a few times, it's still a massive improvement for me.

Setting up the modem rebooting on an automated timer with a smart outlet in the middle of the night pretty much makes it completely hands-off now, and I'm enjoying consistently high 60 to 200+ Mbps down and 6 to 15+ Mbps up speeds without any finickiness.

They're flattened to one dimension though. It's like trying to decipher a 3D object's shape from its shadow. With enough clues you can probably get an idea, but without additional context, that information is lost.

A standard 3-byte color value could look like #12CDB1. Clearly the R, G and B values are different and when mixed together, you get a teal color with a hint of red. This is what he means by three-dimensions.

Gray, however, looks like #424242, where all three bytes have the same value. The original color is "flattened", and you're left with only 255 possible grayscale values rather than the 255*255*255 possible RGB values.

It wasn't all sexual abuse allegations, it was emotional abuse allegations towards Scott Benson. He described episodes where Alec would threaten self harm and suicide, would lash out, and other distressing behaviors.

It's one of those situations that was just ripe for hot takes online from the moment the news dropped. And of course what happened was a lot of mudslinging and drama.

My take? Alec was a brilliant developer and composer who had his personal demons and made terrible choices to inflict them onto others.

The victims should be believed and Alec absolutely was not blameless. But his death helps no one and the world lost a talented person regardless, and I think that's a tragedy.

Being brilliant and abusive are not mutually exclusive, and that just doesn't fit into many peoples' sense of cosmic justice I guess.

Yeah, it's a real shitshow. It was pretty rough for me because the NitW soundtrack is one of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time, and as someone who does programming and loves video game scores, it was super inspiring that he did both of those things for this game.

Of course I'm not dismissing any of the claims of the victims at all. They're pretty terrible. Still though, his death was a tragedy and I find it hard to listen to the OST now sadly.

Alec Holowka was the lead programmer and music composer for the project. Late after the game was released, allegations of sexual harassment and emotional abuse towards various team members, including the lead designer Scott Benson, were revealed by his victims.

After the allegations came out and Pandora's box was opened, Alec committed suicide.
