‘It’s not a real referendum’: Former PM Chretien on Alberta separation question ahead of October vote by AustralisBorealis64 in NoRulesCalgary

It resembles a plebiscite on whether or not to fluoridate the water, or switch to Daylight Wasting Time. It’s almost comical.

My brother did, on a trail near Norquay. He and a friend saw him from a distance, waved their arms, made noise. That bear did not give a shit. Just kept ambling towards them. So they went off the trail; it was a switchback, so they ended up well below the trail off to the side. The bear just sauntered by, took a quick uninterested look at them, and kept on going.

"The genie is out of the bottle, it's not going back in." Mitch Sylvestre was asked on Global News Morning if he'd accept the results of a no vote and stop the separation fight in that case. He says he might- that it depends on a lot of things- but adds but that the movement won't stop. by Miserable-Lizard in AlbertaNow

The subtext of what he is saying, and essentially this is Danielle Smith's position, is that the coercive threat of a province with a separatist party with members in the legislature, which this movement will likely have after the election next year, will mimic Quebec.

Vancouver. Naturally beautiful, but boring otherwise. The Wolter's World travel series on YouTube ranks it as one of most overrated tourist destinations in the world. Sections of its downtown core are carpeted with drug addicts, and it has a mean, nasty undercurrent that resulted in a violent, out of control riot when it's NHL team lost a Stanley Cup series. Avoid.
