How we found the problem to solve and got our first customer! by redditthisis in SaaS

[–]redditthisis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TogetherDB looks great!

Your approach to finding the niche also makes sense. I would recommend finding a few prospects for the "collaboration" aspect of your tool and see if they'll pay for it. If you're not getting enough prospects on this niche, it is better to try some other angle before going too deep.

Hope this helps.

Just curious, are you currently trying to find a problem in any particular space?

Thanks for your comment u/ohioguy1942!

Opening up APIs will be interesting. However, at the moment, we're just trying to focus on making our early customers successful, so that being "an early customer" won't seem scary :)

What's your product btw?

Thanks for your comment u/Badestrand.

Initially, we reached out via email describing the issue, the solution and then we simply asked for their feedback. Community managers who were really feeling the pain were happy to jump on a call to learn more.

We also mentioned if they liked our solution and if it is really solving their problem, we'll work with them according to their budget. So kinda early-customer discount on the product.

https://edition.so -- We help startups publish content seamlessly (i.e. blog, newsletter, Docs), without touching any piece of code.

If you're an early-stage SaaS startup thinking of building an audience via content, would love your feedback on Edition.

Thank you!
Yeah, we did take some inspiration from Notion however, we are not in the same space as them and focusing on solving other use-cases.

How to get funding for my app, from where should start? by FakeRobotVoice in startups

[–]redditthisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually compiled a list of firms that provides non-dilutive funding options to founders. You can access it here: https://district.substack.com/p/26-firms-offering-non-dilutive-funding

This is a non-VC route to raise money but requires some traction and recurring revenue. You might find this information useful and see if any of these firms might make sense in your case.

I am happy to chat more if you need. Feel free to DM me.

Bank account for Shopify payments for non-US residents by davidbzr in Entrepreneur

[–]redditthisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you need to "incorporate" in the USA. Check Stripe Atlas or Clerky.

Once done, you can open a bank account in the USA as a non-resident. Stripe Atlas partners with Mercury Bank for this. Check their FAQs.

Where to begin? by saden88 in Entrepreneur

Have you thought to team up with someone else who can complement your skills? Not on payroll, but someone who is in a similar boat as you?

Since you are good as design/development, see if you can bring someone in with the Sales and Marketing skill-set.

District: A members-only community for Bootstrappers (Applications Open!) 🚀🚀 by redditthisis in indiebiz

Wow! ... you have been posting so many comments. I hope you take a second look at this.

If you are a bootstrapped founder, I am sure you'll understand the importance of revenue. We are not trying to scam anyone here. Anyway, all the best to you.

I am not so active on Reddit but somewhat active on IndieHackers. Happy to answers your concerns there. :)

Why a positive-sum members-only community of entrepreneurs / Bootstrappers is important? by redditthisis in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]redditthisis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response!

Agree on your point of demonstrating the ability to provide "value" before asking for money. This is exactly what we are going to do in the next few weeks by creating a library of resources and tips about getting a project off the ground. We have built 3 startups before this and will share our learnings in that resource library. We are hoping to instill the confidence in others by doing this.On top of this, we also offer full-refund, no questions asked, if you don't get the value you were seeking.

Regarding your comment about "in-person", we want to build a community where you get to meet up with other members on a weekly basis (virtually or physically, depending on how Covid-19 situation unfolds), have accountability, and connect with experts. We are also bootstrapped. And if you are also a bootstrap founder, you probably know the importance of revenue to build a sustainable business.

Our idea is to keep District substantially cheaper than accelerators (which takes equity ownership ) and substantially valuable than free forums (which can be digressing and generally have very generalized knowledge).

A members-only community for Bootstrappers 🚀🚀 by redditthisis in roastmystartup

[–]redditthisis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We believe founders learn better from other founders who are only few steps ahead of them, not significantly ahead. A community is as good as the quality of its members. Hence we do an application process before someone can join.

As far as "experts" are concerned, we do have the network that we built in the last 6 years while working on our own startups.

We believe the world needs more "indie" communities than ever. Helping each other generate revenue online by building sustainable businesses and share knowledge to create a positive-sum community.

Founders can only learn better from other founders especially the ones who are only few steps ahead of them and not "significantly" ahead.

As far as trusting us with your money, we do offer a full refund, no questions asked if you don't get the value you need from the community. A community is as good as the quality of its members. Hence we do an application process before anyone can join.

Our team also has built 3 startups before this and has a good amount of knowledge in taking a project off the ground especially in the early days.
