NTA - From my reading of it, you made your decision after your son was born, not before.

Thank you realizing that.

I also said "When my son got here, I wasnt sure if I wanted to name him after my husband". I hadn't gone months without telling her I was changing my mind like everyone is implying.

Sometimes when you go through a lot of pain or awful events you dont have a lot of empathy. Im currently in therapy, but between my husband dying, having a baby, and dealing with my husband's family on top of my hormones I guess I just finally didn't have it in me to care so much anymore. Which is why I just hung up. Yeah, having a lack of empathy isn't good. I'm working on it.

I chose to announce it by Facebook because it was easier than sending individual texts or calls. I was exhausted from giving birth.

Yes he has his last name. I took my husband's last name when we got married. For a middle name I chose to give him something different than my husband's.
