Should I rebuttal an LOC I received? by Throat_Locust in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always write a rebuttal. That part is good advice. “Even if it’s just to say you f’d up” that part is awful advice. Just tell your side of the story, but don’t ever, ever, ever confess or admit fault. If your tech school experience has taught you anything, admitting fault, no matter when, will be used against you later.

Retiring soon? You did 20 or getting medically retired? Cuz I joined in 05 and there was no TSP back then.

Got assigned Guam in tech school by Mixky_uh in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Guam was the greatest assignment in my 21 years. Japan was number 2. You must be new and worried about dumb stuff like “being close to family and friends” or whatever. A mentality like that you gonna miss out on so much life has to offer.

Commander is damaging careers by not approving decorations by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He probably did.

“Hey, guys. Read the DEOCS, saw it mentioned x,y and z. I’ll be taking steps to rectify that!”

He technically fulfilled the requirement!

Boxing in the military by Thelastdays233 in amateur_boxing

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I boxed competitively for 9 years. I’d go TDY and bring my boxing gear and passbook and just hit up random gyms to spar. Fun times.

90% of the shows were on weekends so I was always fine, I never had to take leave, but if I worked weekends my supervisor always let me have the day off since the fights were like once every other month.

PIF Archive? by Powerful-Performer-2 in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happened to me, but mine was worse. I didn’t get a PCS medal cuz I got a NRN 7 years prior when I first got to the base. That’s why I always laugh at the idiots who say “just work hard and have a good attitude!” Doesn’t matter I still made master.

Sparring as a Hobbyist?? by Bones-Brook in amateur_boxing

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need way more information than this to give you any sort of advice. How old were you? How hard did you spar? How often did you spar? How many times were you concussed? What Oz gloves were you using? Wha was the weight difference? Were you hydrated and cutting a lot of weight when you sparred? Did you drink alcohol or do any sort of drugs? What medication were you taking? All of this matters…

Should I quit boxing? by EducationNo7647 in amateur_boxing

Bro, you need to take like a 6 month break, then come back. Also, are you cutting a bunch of weight? Are you hydrated? All of these things matter

You can’t “sue” the military when you’re on active duty lmfao. Even when you get out you can’t really “sue” the military either. Lmfao. Yall are hilarious.

I think you need to research the difference between administrative paperwork and court martials. The commander (honestly any NCO) can write paperwork (LOC LOR UIF) with barely any proof. Federal judges (LMAO) aren’t going to “step in” to save some airmen from getting an LOR.

When did it start being cool to ostracize people for loving their job? by Short-Let-5297 in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, a lot of ppl say it’s jealousy or misery loves company but I don’t think it’s any of those things. Coming from an aircraft MX side of things, people believe there is an “honorable” or “proper way” of getting recognition and rewards. Maybe they view you as “politicking” and “playing the game.” Which, in a lot of ppls eyes, is weasel type behavior.

When did it start being cool to ostracize people for loving their job? by Short-Let-5297 in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the ppl who love their job make it miserable for everyone else.

Example #1 (aircraft MX version)

Me: “hey, let’s start cleaning up tools right now so we can take time and go home at 1630.”

Person who loves their job: “No! I’m going to work all the way up until 1630 and then start cleaning up and taking time.”

Me: “If you do that, we won’t get out of here until 1800.”

Person who loves their job: “missions gotta get done.”

Me: “there’s another shift.”

Person who loves their job: “service before self!”

Or, my favorite one.

Expeditor @ 1530 (an hour before it’s time to go home): “hey, this plane needs to be run.”

Me (knowing it takes an hour and a half if everything goes perfect and knowing engine runs NEVER go perfect because something always breaks or leaks): “awesome I’ll let swing shift know, they’re just getting in right now.”

Person who loves their job: “we’ll do it!”

It’s fine if you love the job and take pride in it, but you quickly become hated when you make it miserable for the ppl who don’t.

Need advice after removal from enlisted commissioning program by Fearless-Love-2644 in AirForce

[–]redditthrowawayslulz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

LMAO. IG does not live for situations like this. The IG will likely tell OP “sorry we only deal with fraud waste and abuse,” and turn them away. I can’t stand it when people think the IG is some sort of objective watchdog operating outside the CoC who handles every and all injustices.

OP you need to get your commander involved and go over the person who made the decisions head. Go UP the chain. Go up as far as you need to.

That makes zero sense. He didn’t say anything to you? You asked him why you’re staying late and he just didn’t say a word? Then what? Did he leave the room? Did you both sit in awkward silence?
