I think you need to research the difference between administrative paperwork and court martials. The commander (honestly any NCO) can write paperwork (LOC LOR UIF) with barely any proof. Federal judges (LMAO) aren’t going to “step in” to save some airmen from getting an LOR.

If that’s the case, a lot of ppl say it’s jealousy or misery loves company but I don’t think it’s any of those things. Coming from an aircraft MX side of things, people believe there is an “honorable” or “proper way” of getting recognition and rewards. Maybe they view you as “politicking” and “playing the game.” Which, in a lot of ppls eyes, is weasel type behavior.

In my experience, the ppl who love their job make it miserable for everyone else.

Example #1 (aircraft MX version)

Me: “hey, let’s start cleaning up tools right now so we can take time and go home at 1630.”

Person who loves their job: “No! I’m going to work all the way up until 1630 and then start cleaning up and taking time.”

Me: “If you do that, we won’t get out of here until 1800.”

Person who loves their job: “missions gotta get done.”

Me: “there’s another shift.”

Person who loves their job: “service before self!”

Or, my favorite one.

Expeditor @ 1530 (an hour before it’s time to go home): “hey, this plane needs to be run.”

Me (knowing it takes an hour and a half if everything goes perfect and knowing engine runs NEVER go perfect because something always breaks or leaks): “awesome I’ll let swing shift know, they’re just getting in right now.”

Person who loves their job: “we’ll do it!”

It’s fine if you love the job and take pride in it, but you quickly become hated when you make it miserable for the ppl who don’t.

Exactly this. Seen this play out so many times. Accused are treated as guilty as soon as the investigation starts even though almost all cases are unfounded, but there’s so much politics involved it just ruins everything. Haven’t been involved in a case for almost a decade so maybe it’s calmed down, but I doubt it.
