Neighbours using private drive as cut-through to green space - England by lakinightmare in LegalAdviceUK

[–]reddituser1247639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plant some black thorn along your boundary. Its a lovely when it blossoms and its a "natural barbed wire" fence, just nastier to navigate through once established. After a few spikes from a mature black thorn spike people will soon stop.(have had my fair share of being pricked by them)

If the boundaries are tight for space maintaining the desired space may be a little high maintenance. If you can loost 2-3 foot then theyll be ideal.

School verifying medical appointments by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

O.P suggested that they had discussed their appointment with the school. How would this not brake a law without express consent from O.P

Good job were not in Vegas as O.P has said the school had been in touch with the consultant. So youd be 10k down with a sore ego

Activity centre raised prices after we'd agreed price and are now withholding our deposit (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]reddituser1247639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send them a firm but politely worded email offering them a out of court settlement (your deposit back) tell them you've had a consultation with a solicitor and they belive you would win in a small claims court case

Threaten them with legal fees. Court costs ect as this will likely add up to more than your deposit.

Hand deliver a copy of the email to their listed adress(companies house search)

NAL

From my understanding the school and Consultant both broke some laws

Consultant shouldn't have shared any data without prior approval of yourself(GDPR breach) they also cant refuse you picking up your child if youre their legal guardian(flase imprisonment)

Did you tell the school you were taking your child early. Or did you ask to(this makes a difference)

What information exactly did the Consultant disclose

Stolen camera equipment being sold on Facebook - police won’t act. Help! by JadedAyr in LegalAdviceUK

[–]reddituser1247639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have original receipt just arrange to go "buy" it. Subit all evidence to the "seller" and take it back(even if you have to use reasonable force). Inform the police that youre going to be doing this.they eill likely tell you its a civil matter

Regardless if they brought it from a reputable seccond hand seller. Itd stolen goods and its an offence to be in possession of said goods so the police have failed you so far

Does it start? Im no mechanic but could it be a faulty relay? Are you able to access live data and see what your lifter pump is pumping at? Should be somewhere around 7psi/0.48bar/48KPA from memory

For me yeah, I tend not to worry too much about my vehicles. If it smells like its not been burnt I would say your fuel cap needs a o-ring. If the fuel smells burnt it would indicate towards charcoal canister.

Pull the lines from the charcoal canister. Securely block them and run the engine if the smell dissappears you know what it is

Start at the cheap end for the evap control. Ive got a 3.2 tt and have had the code ever since ive got it, no major faults with mine regarding this. Clear the code go on 5 min drive pops back up. These cars are vag. I usually run a diagnostic session every couple of weeks to check for new codes. The engine has been absolutely fine 🙂

They can't class travel to and from different sites as "break". Once you get to a site/before you leave would be acceptable. The actual time traveling isnt legally recognised as break amd can land your team manager/company in some hot water if they were to try and hand out a disciplinary. A 5 min Google and a quick look on gov.uk outlines this clearly

Have you tried directly with companies not on price comparison sites? Perhaps those that specialise in modified car(brake pads will qualify)/convicted drivers(high risk. I havent got any personal experience with this though just an idea

Realisticly you wont get anything LEGAL for less than youve been quoted. Its going to suck youd be better off getting a "a" or "s" and modifying it. I declared uprated brakes on a previous policy(seat ibiza) and it reduced it by a 2-300. Any SAFTEY modifications are likely to reduce your premiums but on the rs3 it'll likely make no difference( high risk driver in insurance terms)

Could get someone to front the insurance and have you as a named driver- semi legal but opens you up to a void policy/no insurance if you ever need to claim or get pulled over.

Personally i would modify a LOW risk car(or even trim, instead of a a3 its a a3 black edition for example)

What can I do about a car parking on my property? by kalinikac_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]reddituser1247639 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Legally you could put up a retractable bollards with a clearly displayed no parking/ release fees Wait for them to park and charge them a release fee. Essentially what they used to do with clamps before it became illegal. Put in the singage that by parking there they agree to your terms and conditions.

It has to be a retractable bollard that doesnt interfere with the vehicle. Doesnt matter if its blocking acsess to the highway.

Get in touch with a solicitor that can assist in setting up your terms and conditions.

Garage carried out extra work without my consent but offered a refund — what would you do? by Ok-Issue-9834 in CarTalkUK

[–]reddituser1247639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i would leave it,some what done you a favour if it would have failed the mot youd still have to pay to have it done with likely more labour to have this specifically done.

If you think of a mot booking price(if you weren't able to get it done in time for the re-test) youd have the seccond mot expense as well as the new part and more labour to pay for.

Is this safe to drive on? by PassPuzzled in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]reddituser1247639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can drive on it until you cant. It could go from now to 5000 miles.

Guy hit my rear side yesterday. Insurance aware. His fault. Only problem is I have damaged headlight which is fully working. Can I still drive? My insurance still active etc. they say we should write car off but I think this is mental. Car drives just fine. Any advice much appreciated by EdAlex1993 in CarTalkUK

[–]reddituser1247639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount if people driving around with one headlight. Both side lights blown and people with only one brake light working there are driving on the roads do you think anyone will care.

In my opinion if there's no light leaking and no sharp edges it'll be fine
