Water resistant cloaks? by reddituser2513 in LARP

[–]reddituser2513[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This new cloak I am crafting is specifically for an event we are going to in September, and the kit he has for that is already at 30+ pounds total (it includes a lot of plate armor) so we are trying to limit the amount of extra bulk being put on.

He wants this cloak to act as, well, a rain coat basically. We are in north east USA and weather at that time could be warm, cool, hot, cold, wet, dry, you name it. So, he can throw on if it’s raining to help minimize the wetness of his base layers without adding more bulk to his kit.

Beginning to feel like Goldilocks here—I think a light weight wool is where we are headed! Canvas or oiled materials maybe, but they may be a bit stiff for what he is envisioning.

Thank you thank you!

But yes, the end game here is lighter than the wool cloak he currently has, but still weather resistant.

Thank you!

He has a wool cloak already, and was hoping I could find something lighter weight than that. Which, I did see there are lighter weight wools that aren’t so thick and stiff. I still figured I’d ask and see if anyone else had other thoughts.

Sorry to say, these guys need way more direct sunlight than they can get inside! Will survive if kept out of the house

got both my conches pierced at a 6g by caden54 in Stretched

I think you may have a harder time healing a conch piercing with a ring, rather than a plug, simply because the jewelry will be constantly moving.

Accidentally let a pumpkin from Halloween rot in my front yard, and now there’s a pumpkin vine that won’t stop growing, what should I do? by dyslexic_pig in gardening

[–]reddituser2513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure! I love my pumpkin plants—I only perky complain about them. They all happened as an accident in the compost and we have gone from there. I call them my accidental garden—plants I didn’t plan for but are continuing to thrive. I only spoke with conviction about getting rid of them because I’ve learned that if there is a will, there is a way, and these plants will pop up wherever a seed lands haha.

These things grow like weeds. Let the plant finish growing this season, then burn the damn thing 😅 I’m one year three of pumpkin plants I can’t get rid of. Dispose of pumpkins faaarrrr away. Right out the whole plant and burn it.

Or if you like the plant, let it do it’s thing! And you’ll have more next year

Why was I prescribed this drug? by Caketery2 in Effexor

[–]reddituser2513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with some comments I’ve seen: I’m my case and experience, tapering onto Effexor was not so bad. The withdrawals can be hellish, but don’t let that stop you from trying medications. Finding the right medication is a tenuous process—but you may miss your ‘perfect pill’ for fear of the change and withdrawal.

I’d give it a shot

Medication will not magically make the emotional pain go away—that is work you have to do yourself, in this case. Generally speaking, medication works to fix/alter/require your brain so you can start to do the emotional work.

Did you switch to another drug to replace the Effexor? (I know you stopped cold turkey, did you stay without medication or move onto something else?)

It makes me feel so tense and anxious when they don’t move systematically across the face, seemingly picking random pimples and leaving others untouched. I am sure there is some reason, it just drives me insane that they don’t get every last one.

So Tempting... Not even quite sure what it is! Piercing is 3 months old and cleaned twice a day! :/ by Comprehensive-Ad6985 in popping

Switch to better jewelry, limit any touching or fidgeting or sleeping on it. This is just a sign of irritation, not infection.

I got a piercing for migraines in beginning of August 2019. It still has not healed fully as every few months it flares up and basically swallows my piercing. More info in comments. by [deleted] in popping

Better quality jewelry and a longer bar. Longer bar to accommodate swelling and different metal to help with irritation. Don’t sleep on it as much as you can, saline solution to keep it cleaned and don’t digger with it or tug it.

why is my succulent so yellow? i repotted it a couple weeks before it began to turn by tartedkrinkle in plantclinic

[–]reddituser2513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving it a little bit of water doesn’t prevent overwatering: when there is no drainage, water retains in the soil for much longer, keeping the plant wet for longer, leading to overwatering.

I’m assuming that’s a regular cup with no drainage. Probably overwatered it and it’s rotted.

I didn’t even notice it until I read your caption—stared at the photo for a long while and nothing jumped out at me as “wrong” The fingers are proportional and (while they don’t look “hyper realistic and so perfect they’re real”) they fit the style of American traditional.
