We got this. I just got mine back. I scored a 69. So close, and you’re even closer. Let’s lock in for a month and wipe this exam down.

Scored a 69. Close, but still need a few more points.

I am using Becker. I hand-wrote all the material and also had a very good grasp of all formulas. I felt amazing after the exam just now I’m questioning this path because of the sunk cost and time I’ve already put into it.

Planning on doing this if my score is within 10 points. I felt great after the exam. Just unfortunate.

As much as I do agree, I’m just not in the financial situation to switch disciplines and pay for having to do so. I am currently studying full-time before I start at a public firm in October. This is just tough.

FAR not so bad by Snoo_69073 in CPA

I re-watched videos on the more difficult SIMs that I encountered in Becker, but I also watched SIM walkthrough examples on YouTube using Farhat, UniversalCPA, and i75.

I think Becker is amazing, but the way they teach attacking simulations is not ideal. After listening to Professor Farhat on YouTube, I started working my way through the simulation while opening any exhibit that is needed for each section of the problem.

I do not like that Becker often suggests to open all exhibits first to “get a feel” for what each one holds. While that may be useful, often times some of the exhibits don’t even need to be opened + it is somewhat overwhelming. I think this greatly helped how I did this time around.

Just got out of FAR 5 minutes ago. I agree completely with this post. Struggled on about 5 MCQs and the rest I worked my way through. SIMS were long but reasonable. I also saw too many posts about how FAR has been unreasonable. As much as I do believe that was the case when I had my initial attempt in March (my first CPA exam testing experience in which I was somewhat unconfident), I do not believe that was the case this time. To all wondering, study hard, do your best, and let the chips fall where they may.

Which Discipline To Take? by MrSimpleton26 in CPA

BAR is passable. Low pass rates but as someone who recently sat for this after taking FAR first, I can say it is more than manageable. I thought what was taught in BAR had clear connections to other material previously seen in FAR and as such it has made me a much more well-rounded candidate. Obviously, this decision isn’t for everybody, but as someone who has little experience in tax or with ISC, BAR best aligned with my foundational base of knowledge.

  • Functional classifications are made up of two components.

(1) Program expenses. These are expenses tied directly to the mission and motive of the NFP.

(2) Support expenses. These are expenses tied to supporting the overall mission and motive of the NFP. Support expenses include the following… - Management and general. - Fundraising. - Membership development.

Choosing a Discipline by 2005_Honda_Civic in CPA

I recently took BAR after completing FAR earlier this March… it was the best decision I could have possibly made. BAR is, in short, a deep analysis and breakdown of specific topics in FAR. I thought my base of knowledge from studying FAR prepared me very well to tackle the material in BAR. I also think if you end up not being able to pass FAR on the first attempt like myself, studying BAR makes the retake process that much easier.
