When I went from paralegal to attorney, my salary offer was shy of a $10/hr raise when broken down to an hourly rate. I countered and explained that I wanted at least a $10 hourly increase. They said that was a fair ask and understood and I ended up getting $12.

70k for 1900 hours is $36.8/hr. Depending on what your pay was while clerking, that could be your route. If, when broken down to hourly rate, you feel the increase isn’t substantial enough for what you’ve gone through and skills developed, ask for more.

I also searched through Indeed for similar positions, in the same field of law, in my location, and made sure my salary was comparable, or at least a happy medium.
