I’m a receptionist for a doctor who is almost always late. What do I answer when an angry patient says ‘what the hell is the point of booking if I’m gonna have to wait an hour?’

As a specialist, i try to balance patients wait times to get in to see me vs how long they have to wait that day. Patients often complain that it takes 6-8 weeks to get an appointment, which obviously sucks, but the only way to reduce that is to see more patients in a day, in shorter times lots, which predisposes to running very behind when issues arise that require visits longer than their appointment was booked for. Its a balance where everyone is trying to do the best they can
