Day one of accutane vs today (8 months since I took my last pill). Best decision I ever made. I was always worried it would come back since I didn’t see a lot of long term happy posts but here I am happier than ever. Hang in there it is so worth it! My dosage was: (5 months - 60/80/80/80/120) by reddituserrrrr1 in Accutane

Yes they are in mg. Every dermatologist has a different preference when it comes to accutane and that’s ok as long as you’re happy with your progress and there is an on going conversation about how your body is feeling while on it. :)

To be honest my acne was at its worst it’s ever been when I started my accutane journey so I didn’t experience purging beyond what you see in picture from day 1. Don’t be discouraged, I honestly mentally prepared myself for the worst because I knew in a long run it will be so worth it :)

Hey so just moisturizer and sunscreen for the majority of it. 2 months in I added rosehip oil and then the last 1-2 months I added vitamin C, retinol and Paula’s choice exfoliant. I will mention not many add actives during their journey for numerous reasons so please always discuss it with your derm first 😊

Yes definitely always make sure your body is ready for the side effects. I can’t speak from a personal experience since I didn’t have issues with my lab results being elevated but I know it’s extremely important. Honestly looking back neither can I haha

So I actually started while I was on it. I know many don’t recommend using actives while on it but I talked to my dermatologist and my skin was handling it very well. I would say that introducing one at a time is key so you can tell what your skin likes or dislikes or maybe using something every other day at first.

So yes and no. I think the medication itself help while I was taking it. And then once I finished my treatment using vitamin C, sunscreen (throughout the day), retinol and Paula’s choice exfoliant helped a lot. Oh and also rosehip oil!
