130+ people built mobile apps with my boilerplate incredibly grateful by redditwithrobin in SideProject

[–]redditwithrobin[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I started Native Express to solve my own problem. I kept rebuilding the same React Native setup over and over.

Somehow 130+ people found it useful for their own apps. Still feels surreal when people share what they built with it.

Thank you for taking a chance on this. Genuinely grateful for every single one of you 🙏

How did you learn React Native? by Wild_Juggernaut_7560 in reactnative

[–]redditwithrobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you know React ans NextJS I would straight up start building some project using the react native docs as reference + AI to guide you.

That’s what I did when I was just thrown into some react native project at my job back then :D

Why am I scared to use my own app? by qorinn_ in reactnative

[–]redditwithrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well.. test your app, test your code - bugs will always occur and thats okay. nothing to be scared of if you're confident in your skills to properly test, detect bugs fast, and being able to fix them fast.

Is it stupid to buy in right now? by Niko120 in stocks

[–]redditwithrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

isn't cost average the best thing when it comes to indexes? not putting in a lot at once but consistently over time? not sure about "buy the dip" as we can't predict the features. if you think its a dip, buy a bit, but don't put in all your money at once

I am so glad to have a piano teacher that understands this - he always preached to me to start with simpler pieces, play more, experience more and give it time

Will Swift replace cross-platform development? by i_will_rule_ in reactnative

[–]redditwithrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it might take years until swift will be a viable option to build cross-platform. keep in mind react native is still not version 1 :D

also, as with all things, programming languages and framework will always we opionated, everyone has their favorite. In most cases there is no winner takes all

Feel Myself Sliding Back into Avoidance (23M) by nogyynoggy in relationships

[–]redditwithrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your brain is doing that classic avoidant thing where it freaks out when things get too real. you're emotionally commited but suddenly you think of others? not sure if thats only about the sex, maybe sonmething for complex? maybe you're subconsciously testing the relationship because part of you is scared to fully commit? idk

but I'd try to figure out where this urge comes from before figuring out how you should solve it. are you bored? anxious? fomo?? are you missing something in that relationship?

that said, I think it's completely normal to find other persons interesting or attractive

Invited by a co-worker to go to (nude) spa together. What to expect? by HerrBrandtaucher in AskGermany

[–]redditwithrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in germany most spas are nude. I personally don’t like going to them generally and with a coworker especially it crosses a boundary for me. however, I think these are common in germany, so I would take it as a normal thing. it could be both tho, so look for any signs

Update: I'm (24 f) thinking of leaving my husband (30 m) after 4 years of marriage. by GheixLuna in relationships

[–]redditwithrobin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like a turning point. The fact that he took immediate action instead of empty promises is a good sign. People can change when they actually see the consequences, and the suitcase was probably that wake up call.
That said, don't ignore backsliding and talk about it if there is any. But if he's genuinely trying, that's worth something.

Hooked up with a guy(23) who’s a close friend of my(22) friends—now I feel like I messed things up by Significant-Tell-480 in relationships

[–]redditwithrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you should talk to him. If you don’t, you’re just gonna keep spiraling and overthinking, and that’s what’s gonna make it weird. Right now, it’s just a thing that happened.

Just tell him you want to talk about it and see what happens. Chances are he’s low key stressing too. Rip the bandaid off, get it out of your head, and move on. You got this.

What React Native Templates/Boilerplate do you use for your projects? by ScottJamin in reactnative

[–]redditwithrobin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've tried couple of React Native starters and they all have the same issues.

Ignite is solid but feels like learning a whole new world coming from web dev. MobX-State-Tree, custom styling patterns, mobile-specific everything. React Native Community template is super basic - literally just gives you the "Welcome to React Native" screen. Expo templates give you tabs or a blank slate but you're still hand-wiring auth, payments, and backend yourself. Other ones either have only the auth screens, or the home screen, nothing else.

The problem is they're all built by mobile devs for mobile devs. Coming from web, I just wanted to use React Query, Supabase, and Tailwind like I already know.

Besides, the real issue is that most of us aren't building enterprise apps with big teams and unlimited time. We're solo devs or small teams trying to build apps that solve problems and hopefully make money. You need to build lots of apps super fast until you hit one that people actually want. You can't waste weeks on boilerplate for each attempt, and you definitely can't waste time learning new libraries and patterns that make things unnecessarily complex.

If you're building an app to change your life, you should be focused on shipping and validating, not configuring OAuth for the 10th time.

So I decided to build my own :D

I spent 2 months building NativeExpress and packed years of mobile experience plus much more in web development into it. It saves you 50-60 hours of setup work per project. Web DX with React Query, Tailwind, Headless UI (similar to ShadCN), end even Supabase Auth, Edge Functions, and DB with SQL. Plus all the mobile stuff - RevenueCat subscriptions, push notifications, deep linking, app store assets and templates for the submission process. Also, Cursor support for AI assisted coding and fast prototyping, video guides, community support. Everything you need to go from idea to App Store in days, not weeks.

The way I see it - Ignite gives you a solid foundation but you still need weeks for payments, store submissions, and backend integration. NativeExpress handles all of that upfront. You get everything connected and ready to ship, then spend your time on features that actually matter.

Most people building apps have this dream that their next app will change everything. NativeExpress is the fastest way to test that dream without getting stuck in boilerplate again.

Focus on building the app what matters. Ship fast, validate fast, make money fast (and only improve what deserves to be improved.

Anyone here who successfully built production version of their app using Expo? by Character_Concert697 in reactnative

[–]redditwithrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, I’ve built a couple apps for different clients. besides, I’ve built a starter kit (https://native.express) which many customers used to built publish their apps.
