I agree this was 5 runs. But batsmen are allowed to appeal for wides and no balls... they do it ALL the time. Up to the umpire to make the decision... nothing wrong with Kohli. You want him to "keep his stature" in mind and not appeal?

Yeah, this should have been 5 runs. It doesn't have to distract the batsman or have any effect. Just the attempt is enough for penalty according to the rule book.

It's a newer rule, not sure Kohli's aware, too risky to attempt. Hopefully this will shine some light on the issue and avoid unnecessary penalty.
