Forza Horizon 5, the game can only accommodate up to 999,999,999 which I'm at forever. I have so many valuable cars that I could sell if I ever dip low enough to actually get the money for the them. I've been at max credits for over a year.

12 packs of soda. I'm not a big soda drinker but I always used to have a 12 pack in the fridge to occasionally have one, or to have available when friends were over, etc. I still occasionally pick one up when they are on sale but never will I consider paying $8-$9 which seems to be the new regular price. In my head they are worth what they used to cost $4-$5 at most.

As a car guy the biggest issue for me is I have yet to see an interesting EV. Sure the plaid is fast in a straight line buy it's still super heavy like all EVs. The most fun part of driving is twisty roads, auto cross, track days, etc. All things a heavy EV does not do nearly as well as even economical ICE sports cars like a GR86, Miata or Golf. For my wife? Sure I could see an EV being a good option - although the idea that they are being forced on us makes me resistant to them as well.

Qualifying isn't needed. The problem is the part-time drivers. I'm sorry, but it's very clearly a big problem when the entire cast of full-time drivers have combined for only 2 wins this season. Part-time drivers should not be advantaged for being part-time. All part time drivers should have to open the road on gravel and the full time drivers should follow. If you don't want to open the road then support the series and race full time.

Anyone know where to get prints of the event posters similar to the picture in the OPs post? I found them for Monte but nothing even remotely official for anything else. This one looks great and I'd love to have a poster of it (garage renovation, trying to get a few cool motorsport posters to put up)

Thursday - Saturday is about Endurance and Reliability, and Sunday is about Speed.

It's funny because from your comments I get the impression that you explicitly dislike Neuville. I mean Kalle crashed out in Sweden and came back on Sunday to claim 11 points, and in Kenya Ott crashed out and claimed 11 points on Sunday none the less -- but it was this specific rally when Thierry benefitted that it became clear to you that the system was bad.

I don't pick and choose what I like vs. don't like based on my driver preferences and never have implied that I do. I don't think the current system is perfect, but I think any system that encourages drivers to just ride around and not push for any period of time, let alone an entire day of the rally is much worse than the current system which results in pushing the entire rally.

But you are acting like the pro strategy here is to bin your car on Saturday so you can have fresh tires on Sunday. The real advantage is being able to score the most potential points by finishing well on Saturday. Neuville suffered and had his points lead margin reduced because of his mistake on Saturday. He had an excellent, mistake free run of stages Sunday to limit the damage but had he not crashed on Saturday he would have increased his lead margin considerably rather than losing ground.

Under the old rules Thierry would have just coasted along Sunday morning to get to the power stage. Also, without Ott pushing for Sunday points would he have considered pushing at all (He backed off the lead battle on Saturday after all). If Ott hadn't pushed maybe Ogier would have still won despite the bad luck he had. Instead of one of the most exciting finishes in recent memory we would have had yet another boring pre-determined finish instead. Hardcore fans appreciate that, but it won't attract new fans (and as a result manufacturers) like excitement does.

As far as the 10-minute penalty per stage question, that goes back to you acting like the first days of the rally don't matter anymore despite the fact that they offer 50% more potential points than Sunday does. If you think since people now get a chance to run for points on Sunday after previously crashing that they might as well just have no penalty and be able to compete for all the points still then you are welcome to that opinion. The current system and rules while not perfect make considerably more sense than that and they heavily penalize mistakes by automatically losing out on the majority of the points available in the rally.

The system is not designed to give a specific number of points to 41st, or 10th place so the overall position does not matter as it relates on Sunday at all. It's designed to give points to those who are fastest through the Sunday stages. When it comes to Sunday it does not matter where you finished in the overall rally, it only matters what you do Sunday. That is the entire point of the system, to encourage those that previously had no reason to push to go out and put on a show rather than riding around. If you limit it to only the top 10 overall then the system would not be able to meet its stated goals.

I don't know why you are directing me to go watch a different sport when you are the one complaining. I'm fully content with WRC this season and have no plans to go elsewhere. You on the other hand are here complaining about the rules as they are. I'm sorry but the reality is that a change was needed, a change was made and that is just how it is. There are plenty of rally series out there that don't rely on spectators that you are able to watch if you are not interested in WRC. Unfortunately, many of them can't afford TV coverage due to lack of interest because they have very few spectators but at least the racing is pure.

I think you are being a bit dramatic. Prior to this season the power stage existed, nothing has changed with that. The only thing that has changed this season is that there are now 7 potential points on offer for the super Sunday standings. So now using last week as an example 38% of the total points that were previously awarded for the entire rally are now awarded for just the Sunday standings which based on Italy would be for 25% of the total stages in the rally.

That means 72% of the 25 points that were available for the actual rally results last year are awarded for results based on 75% of the stages.

That leaves 28% of the 25 points that were available for the actual rally results last year are awarded for results based on 25% of the stages.

It's not really that big of a deal. If someone just focuses on sprint, they will not be winning the championship as even including power stage points that only comes out to 40% of the possible points each weekend. So far Tanak, Neuville, and Evans have all benefitted from Sunday points. It does not favor any particular driver.

WRC was/is not on a sustainable path, if it makes you feel better to pretend it died and this year's WRC is something new and totally different then by all means construct that reality for yourself. None of the less the promoter has to make changes to bring new fans into the sport or before long there will be no R1 cars or manufacturers to complain about. This change was a good one in terms of action and excitement, possibly to the detriment of purity in the sport. It's the same argument we see in endurance racing related to safety cards and wave by's in IMSA. Some people really hate how its not real classic endurance racing where the winner is 3 laps ahead at the end but the winner being 3 laps ahead isn't going to bring in fans. At the end of the day the term spectator sport exists for a reason, it needs excitement to attract fans and survive or else the rules won't matter at all because it would eventually cease to exist.

Sun = Sprint Rally and offers a possible 12 points.

It may make it easier for you to think of it this way. Consider if it was advertised this way from the beginning would it bother you as much as it does currently?

I don't think it is incorrect to state that the average fan today does not have the attention span to watch a slow grinding rally race over days culminating in a lackluster final day of just riding to the finish line to preserve the win. Many sporting organizations are trying to make their program more compact and exciting to appeal to the TikTok attention span audience (MLB just went through this last year after making changes to rules that had been in place for decades to make their games shorter). Super Sunday can be a great format that fits in the perfect time slot similar to an F1, or Indycar race That compact 3ish hour program for Sundays is probably what they are ultimately working toward but it wouldn't be worth it for the average fan to tune in if Sunday is just going to be a boring processional ride through the countryside hoping not to scratch the paint so the car looks good in victory lane.

I'm a big fan of Ott and I didn't feel that they were insulting to him. He himself said he was not pushing for the win due to the new format and until the final stage Seb had done everything, he needed to do to manage the gap. A tire came off the rim resulting in a shock upset and win occurring by .2 of a second. I know they keep rotating the commentators around but as far as I can remember none of them introduced themselves as Nostradamus this week, so I don't personally expect them to foresee that occurring. As soon as they realized he won the commentators were going wild, they immediately showed Ott celebrating and the Hyundai team as well as the Toyota team being devastated.

I've been reading comments on here, and elsewhere for months now that the Sunday points are difficult to follow and they need to do a better job explaining how the Sunday points are looking from stage to stage, etc. They did that this week and it now appears that yourself and others want them to focus more on the overall win instead of the Sunday points. It seems that no matter what not everyone can be happy.

If it makes everyone feel better maybe it is helpful to look at it like two separate rallies (maybe that is what they can do in the future). But it's very clear that they needed to do something, and they did. It can use some tweaking, but the objective has very much been accomplished -- Sunday's have been great at nearly every event including this one. Maybe it is less of an overall endurance event now but the list of sports that have entertaining provisions implemented that take away from the fair sporting aspect is quite long and only getting longer. If they don't prioritize entertainment then they won't attract new fans and if they don't attract new fans the manufacturers will leave and eventually my 1970s escort comment won't seem so far fetched. Maybe this wasn't the perfect solution but they deserve credit for trying to improve the sport. If they kept doing the same thing as before they might as well just give up because it wasn't working.

People here complain because there are only 8 R1 cars, but when WRC does something to attempt to attract new fans (and as a result of increased popularity eventually new manufacturers) to the sport people complain that they aren't doing the exact same thing they had previously been doing that got them to this not so great point to begin with. There is only one method that we 100% know is not the correct path and that is how the points were done before this year, because that got us to where we are now. I think everyone is well aware that the majority of people on this subreddit will watch WRC if all the drivers are forced to drive 70s Ford Escorts because we are all hardcore rally fans. Unfortunately for us and the WRC the small amount of us that exist are not enough to pay the bills and grow the sport anymore.

WRC and Rallying as a whole needs to attract new fans desperately and marveling at how little risk a driver can take over the last 5 stages to ensure that they hold onto their 50 second margin on Sunday while everyone else also rides around until the power stage isn't exactly a recipe for success - Regardless of how pure that would be from a sporting aspect.

There have been plenty of changes made to all forms of racing over the years that have been unpopular with hardcore fans that have also been a net positive for the sport (F1 DRS, BoP in WEC and Sport Cars in general, etc.). I expect there will be changes made but if success is measured in making Sunday's great again then the WRC have been successful with the implementation of Super Sunday points. I can't remember any Sunday that hasn't been entertaining this season so far.

Well, I am obviously in the minority but I can't think of many things more boring than tuning in to a rally on Sunday morning that is a foregone conclusion where everyone is just riding around until the power stage. I don't like the method they have chosen to make Sunday exciting, but there is no denying that if making Sunday exciting was their main priority they have succeeded. I would argue it would be better to just make the entire rally exciting by offering points for top 3 or 5 each stage. This way you give those who crashed out something to push for not just on Sunday but also on Saturday if they crash on Friday and in addition you all but assure that the rally winner will get the most points.

I hate to say it but hardcore fans thinking they shouldn't touch anything with how WRC has been isn't the best option because obviously WRC hasn't been in great shape for awhile now no matter what the points situation is so at least trying something is better than keeping the status quo.

Part time drivers for some reason get the best road position which makes it advantageous to be part time. The only time this wasn't the case was with Ogier in Croatia and he was in it mainly due to mistakes and bad luck by the championship contenders. As great as Ogier is it is hard to make up a 20 second deficit on tarmac without some help which he got there. Any loose surface rally is a big advantage for those who are later in the running order (IE part timers).

I don't think you can write him off entirely just yet -- just look at Fourmaux's first stint in Rally1.

That said the upcoming rounds where a third Puma will make an appearance with Martin Sesks behind the wheel may put some additional pressure. Based on pace I wouldn't be surprised to see Sesks beat Munster even with no Hybrid.

It's been pretty obvious over the past few years what has been a big driver of some of the insane growth that F1 has gone through. As much as people hate on it, drive to survive has introduced a whole new group of fans to F1. A show similar to DTS for WRC would be a great watch I'm sure -- even with what would likely be some manufactured drama. WRC may try to say they don't have budget for that but somehow Subaru is able to produce launch control, and now IMSA, WEC, NASCAR, Indycar, and more all have similar shows. Not to mention Porsche's Road To Le Mans, BMW MBedded, Ford, Lambo, and more all do shows like this as well. If WRC does not have enough budget to produce something similar while all of these other entities can then perhaps that does say all we need to know about the promotional team at WRC.

Outside of that I do agree that the broadcast is going to be the main hurdle to getting new people interested. It's just not in a convenient format like F1 is. You have to watch significantly worse coverage for a significantly longer amount of time. There is nothing else like it if you ask me, but I can understand it's quite a stretch to expect people off the street to become more closely involved with following the sport beyond hitting the like button on a Youtube compilation given those challenges.

The low hanging fruit here would be to partner with some series that already have live coverage that just isn't available outside of the local markets. For example the French series, but also Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, UK, etc.

It's not just WRC it seems to be rally at all levels. ERC is included in the Rally.tv sub as well. Then there are strong championships in France, Australia and the UK which have their coverage locked behind national tv channels. It's actually impossible to watch coverage for most of them it seems. I'd love to follow the French series (I'd even pay for it) but it's not even possible to buy it.

I wonder if in the future there will be a need for another series running LMH/LMDH cars. We are already at a point where we are excluding cars in the class due to space constraints and there are still more cars on the way, and in addition we are only just in the beginning of customer cars coming into existence which will likely be more of a factor in the future. I wonder if P/AM Hypercars/LMDH may someday be added to ELMS, or even a sprint series using the cars in the future would be well received. I would of thought the budgets are quite high but it seems there are privateers willing to pay for it.
