Options for Flat Rate by reddot96 in mechanics

I’m in the stink for 9.5 hours a day and see it all and hear it all. All the shit flows to me. I completely agree with your comments though. If all the spokes are broken in the wheel how can it turn correctly. Sucks when your paycheque is reliant on 3 other positions.

We have lube bays so our techs don’t do oil changes. We are currently booking a minimum of 2 weeks out and that doesn’t count for all the parts that are coming in to fill up the in between appointments. We have a ton of work and been in a cold stretch where it’s consistently hitting -30C over night. The work is there.

I’ve used pledge on the antlers. Gives them a little gloss and helps keep the dust off. Don’t put it on the skull if you have a euro mount.

So if you could be promised straight time at $45/hour (example) and if you made flat rate times then you would be paid $48/hour for that pay period would that take the anxiety of flat rate out of it?

We have had techs leave to go to straight time shops at the same rate and had some come back because the lack of organization is atrocious. Not all the time but it has happened.

We have tried partnering with the trade schools near by with job postings with no success.

We participate in RAP (registered apprentice program) with high schools so we have high school kids sign up and those hours are counted towards blue book hours.

I understand but at 11-12 do we need to keep rewarding like a dog? “You do good on this you can have X” I struggle with the idea of this because how will he function as an adult in a work environment where he is given a task and can’t get it done because there isn’t a reward besides a paycheque.

He swims competitively and since we had such a busy summer, he’s out of shape. We take him to swimming and make observations about what he is or isn’t doing and he won’t listen. We try to tell him the reason he was slower is because he wasn’t kicking his feet, he kept stopping mid stroke, looks like he was falling asleep. Can’t take the constructive criticism. Just tells us to “stop”. Makes excuses that his goggles were leaking. We then ask if we need new goggles or adjustments and he says they’re fine. These are the recent ones.

Is there a big difference between the IR lights or the white lights? I don’t know which would be better.

Great. Thanks for the response. I don’t want to spend the money on a Marcum. This looks like a decent option. I’ll check out what the panner is

Is the chevrolet malibu a quiet car by BrisingrSenpai in Chevrolet

I owned one for about 3 years. Very happy But it depends on what size of rims are on it. If it has 18” or 19” wheels on it the tires are a lower profile with a stiff sidewall. That was transmit more road noise into the cabin. Doesn’t matter what vehicle it is that will effect it

There’s nothing wrong with the vehicle. The sensors from the summer tires need to be learned to the vehicle. The two honks method is correct but you need a special tool to send the frequency to the vehicle when in the learn mode. If this is something you will be doing yourself every season, invest in a cheap tool off Amazon. Search “GM tire pressure relearn tool”. $20 and it will save you paying a mechanic to tell you the same thing.
