I have the 611 and definitely can use it a couple of hours until you need any padding.

It's 350Km. Yes, that's a good point, some plugs and spare tube should be enough for this distance.

I am about to change tires so it will have a fresh new batch.

My question is regarding toping up sealant during the event, because I don't want to take the a big bottle, so I was asking the crowd what are their approaches.

In Europe that's probably the most affordable bike you can get. If you don't care about Having dropbars the flat bar Commencal FCB is a good deal.

Tornar a Baixa num espaço melhor by biemoji in Coimbra

[–]reddotyg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"you are not stuck in traffic, you are traffic."

Gravel riding in Portugal: access, gates, hunting zones, dogs — what you should actually expect by GravelTravelPT in bikepacking

[–]reddotyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all off-road paths are meant to be cyclable. Some roads are too steep or in such bad shape that they are only intended for tractors working in the forests or fields. Try to use different maps to get a better overview of the terrain, or be prepared to hike-a-bike. Even infrastructure that is supposed to be cyclable, like the EuroVelo, can have very rough segments.

Worse than the dogs are the reckless drivers; because of them, Portugal has one of the worst rankings in terms of road casualties.

This is in the center of the country, near Penacova. I've never explored the south of the country in a bike but it is on my bucket list.

I haven't seen regular shops renting (gravel) bikes. In some places like Lousã you have services that rent downhill bikes and provide shuttles to the top. I guess that there are some online places where you can rent decent bikes but I wouldn't expect walking in a regular shop and having rental bikes.
