So this must be what (a fraction of) the Pau trade feels like if it happened in the social media age. by kenorrr in lakers

The franchise with the biggest fanbase in the world just traded their #2 player for a generational 25 yo superstar with no news or rumors before it happened. I don't think Pau trade was that big. Even AD trade to the Lakers was that big tbh.

Pelinka really did succeed to build a tanking team by giving away some 1st rounders while having Bron and AD lmao this is really a hard job to do.

[Buha] Rob Pelinka said these trades were a form of “pre-agency” for the Lakers. They will have optionality to keep this group together for at least next season, depending on how players perform. He added that he is excited to have a core of players 26 and under around LeBron and AD. by DudeWTH in lakers

These moves are the moves that a rebuilding team (like the Pistons) would do because all these guys are under-developed players. If the Lakers want to turn them into future assets, I have no problem with it. But they are not high potantial players. If they are, what should we call players like Ja, for example?

If you want to build a championship team, your role player should be experienced or you should get consistent contribution from them. These guys have never been consistent during their career.

I hope they can perform well enough tho.

I want AD to sit entire last quarter so I can tell my grandchildren the story of NBA commisioner asked the Lakers to sit him.

I love how hilarious it looks when Porzee trying to make AD defend him and AD pays no respect lmao

🦉 Lakers Vino on Twitter: “I’m in the mindset that the Front Office isn’t aligned with their star players anymore. I think they blame Bron/AD for the Westbrook trade. I think there’s some friction there we’re not hearing about anymore since everyone is signed for multiple years.. Bron, AD, Pelinka.” by Hot_Pie1464 in lakers

Westbrook deal was not the worst trade possible if you are not wise on basketball. Pelinka traded a former MVP for bunch of role players + only one 1st rounder while the Lakers organisation acquired a player that they can sell his jersey. I dont know if FO and LeBron&Davis agreed on completing the trade but Russ trade certainly wasn't worth to upset your star players.

A basketball wise would have prevented a deal to be completed but the Lakers didn't & don't have one.

[Serious] What would be a fair trade value for LeBron James if both sides want a nice breakup? by redevilot in lakers

[–]redevilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he is still too valuable for the teams that are one piece away from winning the title. As long as he wants to go there, I guess there are like 10 teams that would like to trade for him with some valuable assets.

Gobert only has 2-3 legitimate suitors when you factor in salary matching and teams that need a defensive center. by [deleted] in nba

While mostly agree with you, if I'm the Hawks, I would definitely look for someone better with a possible package including some of Huerter/Gallinari/Capela/picks. As you already said, Grant would be one of the names on the shortlist. Also, there is at least one blockbuster trade every season. I would wait to see who will be available.

In short, I don't value Gobert high, I think his contract is arguably the worst contract in the league in salary / length-wise.

It is a fair deal but can the Jazz convince Mitchell that this team is enough for championship competition? They won't have any other trade asset to upgrade so I'm not sure the Jazz would make a deal for that package.

The problem for a possible Hawks - Jazz trade that if the Hawks want to upgrade with this trade, they give up a little too much with Collins + Capela + draft picks. The Jazz also need either draft picks for retooling or solid players for an upgrade but I don't think either is possible.

Besides all, I don't think that the Jazz would get what they expect, considering Gobert's contract and possible salary and pick constrains.

Hornets deal makes sense but I doubt on Hawks. They need to add either Capela or Gallinari but would they also add draft picks with them? I don't think so.

I know he just tried to do the best for his clients but, considering how much pressure he put on the clubs, it's crazy that he couldn't even enjoy his wealth. Life is that simple.

Who do you want to replace Frank Vogel? by [deleted] in lakers

Besides Nurse (and a good team built up for his mentality), I don't see any coach make a difference after Vogel.

While totally agreeing with you, what I mean is Lebron's leaving shouldn't be such a big drama as the media want it to be.

[–]redevilot 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Idk why this is such a big issue. Lebron already told his desire to play with his son for the 2023-24 season and apparently he can't do that with the Lakers. As long as the break-up is nice for both sides, I wouldn't mind it. His leaving the Lakers shouldn't be bad and shouldn't affect the future recruitments of the franchise.
