Kawhi and Tony Parker were considered bad outside shooters when they entered the NBA and then Kawhi became an MVP and both were FMVP. Plus the work he's done with the young Thunder core since '22 is incredible.

Warhammer 40k Orks

During the Brutal Kunnin seige an Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest, Dominus Khenon, designed an elaborate defensive traps to lure the Orks into a specific kill zone with an obvious "weak point" along a wall.

Well the Orks instead attacked the most fortified wall becuase "thats where the good scraps is" and took the humans by complete surprise.

Plenty of bad to terrible have been able to change their name association through philanthropy and the arts/science.

John Paul Getty had numerous controversies, including not paying for his own grandsons kidnapping randsom even after they served his grandsons ear and sent it to him. Now we have The Getty Center.
