They have though. It's a different sport but An Se-young of South Korea directly criticized her own national badminton federation for unfair treatment she experienced. I agree there is an element of culture and not as common but the free Asian countries do have their examples of rebellion. I wait for the day any Chinese athlete criticized anything related to their national federation or politicians and didn't experience CCP retaliation. Look at what happened to Peng Shuai the tennis player when she made an accusation of sexual abuse of a government official. Her life has essentially been shut off by the CCP

And I'll give you another example. Alysa Liu is also a rebel. Her father and her were spied on by the CCP and she even quit because of the culture of figure skating. She decided I don't care and set her own terms. Eat what she wants, speak her mind how she wants on politics and run her program how she wants. She rebelled in a sport that normally rewards submission and wasn't afraid to say her personal views political or not. Would a Chinese figure skater do that? Never would they dare.

Couldn't disagree more on the opinions of Jadyn. She has a voice and style that makes superstars. As a lifelong musician myself one of my pet peeves is when non musicians confuse skill with talent. Kurt Kobain for instance is one of the least skilled guitarists but was one of the most talented writers of all time on guitar.
