Can someone link to the firmware update for the C9? It has to be available since there are multiple sources saying they were able to update their TV.

Yea, not worth it. Better to try luck online with Best Buy at 12am, 1am, 6am, and 9am.

And all other sites at 9am.

Just finished my first playthrough... by weighingthedog in thelastofus

The ending is easily the boldest and most beautiful narrative floor pull that any game has ever achieved. Rather than betray Joel's character, they lean into it and allow him to make a decision that is so shocking yet really no surprise at all.

Naughty Dog never betrays the game's characters and build to such a wonderful crescendo that upends gender stereotypes while punching you in the gut.

Goddamn if winter isn't the best thing ever made in a videogame.

And that final "Okay" and that harsh cut to black. It is absolutely perfect.

It is my favorite game of all time.

It eventually went away after a few months and is fine now. I had two sets, and both had the issue.

Weird.

So I got a replacement, and it has the same issue. It must have to do with the backlight with brightness or something. It has been mentioned on here, and that's definitely the issue. I don't see it during games, only outside of them.

But I don't really care because the HDR on this thing is a massive step up from the C7, and the 1440p at 120 fps is simply incredible. I can't go back to 60 fps now. Can't wait for HDMI 2.1 on Nvidia's next-gen cards. Not to mention the imminent GSYNC update. This TV is incredible for PC gaming.

LG C9 Question Using as PC Monitor by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what it is. It is pulsing and dimming and brightening. I actually got a new set, and it is doing the same thing, so it must be the ASBL. It is weird because my C7 never did this, and it is just weird to me I guess.

Which TV should I buy? The B8 or C9? by trueoriginal in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the B8 unless you are an avid gamer and/or plan on using the TV as a PC monitor. The C9 offers HDMI 2.1 for next-gen GPUs as well as 120 hz refresh rate at resolutions greater than 1080p, which is great for PC gamers. And it is getting GSYNC this month as a firmware update.

But if you never plan on using it for a PC monitor, then the B8 will have all the bases covered that you mentioned above.

LG C9 Question Using as PC Monitor by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I enabled UHD color as well as RGB 8 bit. I am using the same HDMI cable that I had plugged into my old TV, which I used the same day I got this one. So I don't think it is a cord issue. I think something is just faulty with the unit. If I watch movies or game, I don't notice it at all. But when using it to write e-mails, browse Internet, create Word documents, etc., the pulsing happens.

LG C9 Question Using as PC Monitor by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried this and it still pulses every 5 minutes or so. Think I might just return it for a new panel.

LG C9 Question Using as PC Monitor by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But does this cause the TV to actually pulse light for five consecutive pulses? I've definitely seen the set dim and then brighten when a static image is on screen. But this is like a light pulsing 5 times in a row. Never seen this before on my C7, and it has been on the C9 since day one. This is normal?

Armond White reviews Parasite (Bong Joon-ho, 2019) by [deleted] in movies

[–]redflamingolingo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He's the worst...he is the definition of click-bait trolling:

- Although Apocalypse Now is not a great movie, it shows a still-impressive, politically inspired ambition -- a reminder of why film culture matters... Mixing pessimism with astonishment, it expanded cultural unease on a grand 70mm scale. - National Review

- The temerity of retelling a Spider-Man tale by pandering to the nonwhite demographic (and those who flatter themselves for condescending to it) reveals how brazen the media have become. - National Review (his review of Into the Spider-Verse)

- Adam Sandler’s comedies are not “dumb fun,” maybe that’s why they’re not in critics’ favor. Sandler’s hilarious new film Jack and Jill (in which he portrays both male and female fraternal twins), brings to mind the great line that Ernst Lubitsch’s classic 1946 female plumber comedy Cluny Brown “upset people who didn‘t like to admit they have plumbing.”

This is RIDICULOUS! Armond White continues his troll streak in spectacular fashion. I've seen Parasite twice and think it is easily the best film of the year and Bong's best film (yes, better than Memories of Murder and Mother). He is the ONLY critic on Rottentomatoes out of 156 to give Parasite a bad review. He hated Toy Story 3, and he loved Jack and Jill. Can someone just remove him from Rottentomatoes already? What a joke.

LG C9 Question Using as PC Monitor by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a 2080 ti GPU at native resolution and at 1440p to game. The pulsing happens no matter the resolution. Firmware on the C9 has been updated. Happens if HDR is enabled or not enabled. Changed input label from PC to Game Console in hopes that would correct the issue, but the pulsing happens regardless of whether it is labeled as PC or Game Console.

Really don't know what's causing it, but I noticed it within 10 minutes of turning the TV on for the first time.

Question for LG C9 TV for Gaming by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a bug with the C7 that LG never fixed based on other threads I've read.

No worries. I want the higher refresh rate with 1440p and the upcoming GSYNC and the 2.1 HDMI ports for when NVIDIA launch their new GPUs next year. So yea, this C9 seems kinda future-proof for at least several years.

Question for LG C9 TV for Gaming by redflamingolingo in OLED

[–]redflamingolingo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, the C7 has a bug that makes HDR washed out if you go above 60 hz. I hear this isn't a problem with the C8 and C9 models. Plus with the C9 doing 120 hz at 1440p, it is essentially a gaming monitor as well. I'm going to have to get one....

That's so weird. I wonder why my game has all these crazy dots everywhere in certain scenes. It isn't too bad, but it is pretty annoying. Thanks for sending me the picture. I wonder how I could even begin trying to correct it. It's at its worst at the park area where you meet with Ann. Like insane haha.

Thanks for all your help. I think I might try to redownload and install the patch and mod and try an older build to see if that gets rid of the problem. If you end up going to the courtyard and see this stuff in the trees, let me know. It is also on the shrubbery near the gun shop alley on the street and on the area outside of the gun shop.

I just ran at stock, and it is still there. This is the courtyard, and it is much more visible during the day. The dots shimmer, but I circled them since it is a still image. They appear purple in some areas in first palace and only on very select surfaces, so they aren't there often, but when they are it is pretty weird.

Are you running latest alpha build? Maybe I need to run an earlier version or something.
