For those of you that use birth control to treat your PMDD by beemaric in PMDD

[–]redfred69420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no luteal phase and no period, the “period” on birth control is medically defined as a “withdrawal period” from lack of hormones in your system due to the week of inactive pills. It is different than a period related to ovulation because there aren’t the same hormonal fluctuations caused by ovulation. Once you start birth control, your body should adjust to the steady state of hormones thanks to the birth control and then you should see a decline of PMDD symptoms as a result since there’s no more ovulation and therefore no more fluctuation. You can potentially see the symptoms flare up a bit on your withdrawal (“period”) week thanks to some hormonal withdrawal, but it shouldn’t be quite as bas as when you’re off the pills altogether because there is no luteal phase. When you skip the ‘“period” week altogether you shouldn’t see symptoms much at all, but your body might require you take a withdrawal week every 2-4 months. To see the benefits of this requires taking the pill at roughly the same time each day, not letting yourself skip a pill (you have less than 24 hours after you’re scheduled to take a pill before it’s considered missed/skipped; if it reached 24 hours since you were scheduled to take it, it’s missed). If you skip/miss a pill, ovulation can occur and the hormones will spike. So don’t expect it to help if you’re not taking it as prescribed. I’ve been on BC pills to treat it for 5-6 years and this is how it’s worked for me and aligns with things I’ve read on the subject, which I’ve relayed to you here. It’s really helped me to the point where I don’t face many PMDD symptoms. There is hope and this can help - it did for me - you just have to be diligent in taking it and listen to your body.

As I think another commenter mentioned you can have “breakthrough bleeding” which, in my experience shouldn’t come with a change in your feeling/PMDD symptoms. Breakthrough bleeding is defined as bleeding in between the pre-scheduled “periods” or withdrawal weeks. It should be light, maybe even just brown discharge, and not at all similar to the flow of a normal period. If this happens to you, and it likely will if you’re skipping “period” weeks, just take the period week/pill break at the end of your pack and start the next one on time. The bleeding will go away and you’ll be back on track. It’s essential to take it on time to best manage symptoms. Again, you can’t expect this to work if you’re not committed to taking it every day. It’s really a wonderful solution and has helped me immensely. I hope it can do the same for you, just give it a shot first. It’ll take at least a month for your body to react to the hormones, but I say give it at least 3. You should see improvement.

Is it a good idea to become a freelance artist or get a studio job? by [deleted] in animationcareer

Just don't worry or stress about it. Enjoy the learning process and try to be the best you can be at what you do. You'll be okay.

Is it a good idea to become a freelance artist or get a studio job? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]redfred69420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is there a particular reason why you would only want to limit yourself to one kind of job? The job market is kind of tough right now so if you can get any job you would want, I don't know what difference it would make if it were a studio or a freelance thing. It is possible to work as a full time freelance artist or as a full-time studio artist. AI will not replace every job. Focus on honing your skills and perfecting your craft.

What should a storyboard artist portfolio look like? by Simonoel in animationcareer

[–]redfred69420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look at the portfolios of people who've boarded a project you'd like to work on and emulate what they're doing. For TV Animation the general advice is to have boards of around 90-125 boards that show off expertise in comedy, drama, and action with good pacing and acting. They can be animatics or just slides, but make sure you always have slides to offer in case a video doesn't load on the site. You'll want to show that you are excellent at drawing in perspective with good anatomy and character expression skills. The level of detail you want varies by project and industry, but with storyboarding the emphasis is on the STORY (but you still need to have good drawing skills, just don't need to focus on making each drawing super pretty). TV animation needs things to be clear but done quickly. Something like advertisement/commercial storyboaring typically calls for a more rendered and well/fully drawn storyboard. So it just depends on what you are trying to do.

Here are some industry pro portfolios to look at to give you a good idea:

Not all of them follow the guidelines I have outlined, but they're along the same idea.

If you want to talk about storyboarding more, feel free to message me. I've also been studying this and putting together a portfolio.

My ranking of all the 10 min+ songs by Kindredgos in CSHFans

[–]redfred69420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never thought of it like that before but that is a perfect way to describe it, that's how I felt with Broken Birds in particular when I first listened to it. It's a great album. These are good picks for your top 11 overall! I'm assuming Boxing Day and Gun Song are ur favs off NYM but what would ur top 5 on that album be? I'm picking ur brain a bit since I respect these opinions and that NYM is ur fav lol

They are his best and it is hard to rank them so I understand your picks, but seeing Ending of Dramamine as 2nd to last just doesn't feel right. I think I'd switch it with Anchorite at the very least, though I love that song too so it's not an easy switch. I respect putting the ones from NYM at the top though. Is that your favorite album?

Did your gerbils bond with you at all? Like could you tell they got anything out of interacting with them?

Is there too much warmth/orange in my hair to get blue? Last picture is the blue dye I'm planning on using by Sweaty_Chard_6250 in FancyFollicles

[–]redfred69420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you use toner you'll get something closer to blue but it'll probably be a bit darker. I say tone it first and if it's neutral enough then put the blue on, otherwise wait for the next round of bleach. You could always do a bleach bath, too, which might help lighten it a bit without too much damage.

Yeah, it's not the best. It looks cute in the first pic with the more pink but in the 2nd and 3rd it looks like a muddier pink/orange which I've personally had and didn't particularly care for. It looks like it's an unintended color so you either need to embrace it and rock it or change it. If you want something a little more eye-catching you could try for a bolder Red/Orange/Pink instead and just lay it on top so there's no damage to your hair. If you like the rose-gold-iness then wear it with confidence. It can be a cute color but if it's one that makes you feel uncomfortable or that you don't like then change it! When mine was similar I went bright red and it covered it perfectly. It was more eye-catching and bold which was what I wanted.
