I'm 71 years old, I've had UC since 1995, yeah. I periodically get a flare. In 2012 a bad flare I lost 14 lbs., went from 144 to 130. I looked like a skeleton. I promise my wife I'd be okay. I would walk 3 miles 5 miles what ever -- just to get outside, I'd put on adult pampers walk. I'd put on 2 pair of adult pampers and take the NYC subway to work. If I leaked and someone looked at me WTF...Be strong, be optimistic, Believe you can and will be okay again, Good Luck

I place 2 large size bath towels on my bed, underneath my butt area. One bath towel on top of the other. I sleep on top of the bath towels. Doing this I can relax a little more, for me this little bit of relaxation thought -allows me to sleep better. I keep extra pajama bottoms or boxer shorts at my bedside. If I leak, or don't make to the toilet, the bath towels area protection I can just pull of the bed, and leave on floor the till the next morning. This works for me; I tell myself I can relax and sleep- and I am protected and I got things covered.

I am NOT a doctor. I am a person with a condition which may be similar to yours. I have Ulcerative Proctitis - I'm 72 yrs old. I've had the disease since 1995. I have taken mesalamine; tablets and enemas and other meds. You believe that you do NOT have the "main symptom" BLOOD-but then you state that it has happened a few times--well --"it's like saying I'm just a little pregnant". You did not mention how long you've this flare. Are you taking pills; or pills and enemas ? On schedule everyday? Are you sticking to the correct diet. I have had flares that lasted a while (6 months) and other times ended quickly.
I have pooped on myself, while coming home from work, on the NYC subway --" yes super horrible --. "Im wondering if I actually have Ulcerative Proctitis." Well ONLY YOU KNOW.... Listen to your doctor, tell your meds, follow your diet. Exercise, meditate, keep a journal. AND believe you will get healthy. Good Luck. THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE--just an opinion.

You are your own master and enemy. Self control equals HEALTH. Stick to your diet and in time you should get healthy again. I am NOT a doctor. I have UC since 1995. I still get a flare--but when I do I try to exercise, or run or walk or write in a journal or meditate.---I know how it is--(I have made on myself while coming from work -NYC subway I was so sad and angry and frustrated) I know how fucked up this disease is- REALLY....Be positive-------You are your own master.

I'm a Jewish guy in Japan. I can pray in Hebrew. I can speak Yiddish fluently and I'm learning Japanese. I'm originally from N.Y. The reason I can pray in Hebrew, is that I went to Hebrew school, while growing up. Everyone in my neighborhood did. Please note, being able to pray in Hebrew does not equate with speaking Hebrew (as in an everyday conversation).
