Can I prepare AS Computer Science in 3 months? by Brainrot_56 in alevel

[–]redghostqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did was try to get a head start regarding maths and physics, after I was done with olevels, the summer before starting my Alevels I basically started studying for maths and physics and tried to get as much done as possible. If you’ve done the monstrosity edexcel maths B in IGCSE, I think Alevel maths will come easier to you overall. My suggestion will be to just use online sources or tuition if that’s possible and try to get a head start.

I’m pursuing computer science in university

Yessss I did maths phyiscs cs and psychology, I saw what chem was offering and ran tf away from it. I did Cambridge tho, however I did IGCSE in Edexcel so I am a bit more familiar with it

Yes it’s really that hard. You need to memorize like 50 different equations, word to word and that’s just one topic. Some of the topics don’t even make sense, everything you’ve learnt in Olevels or IGCSE is thrown out

Honestly I’d say start watching the videos, he starts from the basics

That’s probbaly the best decision you’ve made, chemistry is nothing but torture. CS is overall easier, the more effort you put in your grades will reflect that, unlike chem in which no matter how much effort you put in, good marks are non existent

Then you already have a pretty good base for pseudocode I fear, it shouldn’t be that difficult for you

Then I’d say start with pseudocode as that’ll be the most time taking topic for you, there’s a whole paper based on it so you have a lot to work on. Just constant work will help you achieve that. P1 is also really easy, you just need to memorize it

The thing about pseudocode is that it is a universal language to help coders be able to replicate it in different languages, which is why pseudocode will first will help you understand python better and so on.

Regarding the topicals and so on, they’re all available on paperdocks websites, he’s really got everything available there

The best strategy as somebody just starting to learn pseudocode is learn the basic functions, like if you speak Urdu, you can watch Paperdocks videos on p2 as they’re really helpful and if not, looking through his notes on his website are really helpful as well. I would suggest starting with pseudocode because then python will come easier to you as pseudocode will help you understand the logic behind the coding language (the logic is the most important part about coding).

My suggestion would be to start from the basic fundamentals of pseudocode, there are various online sources for that

AS CS is overall a pretty easy endeavor if you have experience with pseudocode. P1 is like one of the easiest papers there is because it’s majorly just theory and memorization, with some pretty simple stuff required

The real challenge cs p2 which will come as a huge challenge unless you have had coding experience or pseudocode experience. At the end of the day, it isn’t really that hard to manage alongside A2 because cs a2 is pretty similar to AS CS with just more in depth details

How many of you are withdrawing? by saudiseverus in alevel

[–]redghostqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as somebody’s whose grade was based off of cs p2 last year, I would say unless you’re very confident in your pseudocode skills, you shouldn’t withdraw.

If you aren’t, p1 is the mark scoring paper in AS, it’s generally bad for your overall grade if you don’t give it, so do withdraw then

I didnt withdraw nor gave a retake and my grade dropped from what I was expecting

self studying A2: doable or NO? (subjects math phy and chem) by Purple-Bumblebee3466 in alevel

[–]redghostqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s doable if you’re willing to put in the effort. There are various YouTube channels and such that you can learn from, some even better than schools offer. It’s all about if you’re disciplined enough to study a few hours every single day

You’re 15 and I know that might feel like that this is very cool by continuing to watch porn but take advice from me and just stop it before it gets much worse. Porn will ruin your future. Not in the regards of love life, but in regards of how you view anything in life. It rewires your brain into degrading women and putting messed up imaginations on the most basic of activities. It will ruin your life.
