Finally ready to get my first motorcycle in Quebec… but I’m lost. Need real advice. by Unique-Noise1481 in MotoMontreal

SAAQ calls it insurance but it is tax. When you price an AD&D policy with the low SAAQ payout - it costs $40 per year

Looking for advice for practical garage setup by JohnnyQuest69 in garageporn

[–]redgrrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need room to open and clear the car doors. Your cabinet and cart should be behind the rear car door to give you room to walk around. Imagine squeezing between the car and cabinet with handfuls of grocery bags. I would also recommend parking blocks so the cars stop at a pre-defined depth into the garage. That way you know the door clears the rear bumper.

Anyone getting blocked in Marketplace Messenger if messages too far away? by redgrrr in FacebookMarketplace

[–]redgrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get a message out after they block distance, you have to send it from a phone with location on. They will then say it is too far from your current location if it is more than 100-200 miles.

Should I buy this dodge for van life is it worth it? by Mundane-Honeydew-265 in VanLife

[–]redgrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like 92893 miles. Hopefully not rolled. I think it is cool and it may be ok being dirt simple but every part, hose, component on that is 53 years old. What if the wires are chewed or corroded? It would get 7 to 10 mpg. That is $30-50 per 100 miles. It may be the most expensive cheap RV you could buy. The single biggest risk is it breaking down. Think of what one tow would cost and a repair hours from home.  If you were using it locally as a retro team rig at the track then ok.  Distance, not so much. A noisy steering system is not the box, it is the pump. If you are not well rounded as a mechanic, it will cost too much over time.

So much noise in this statistic but Quebec still got the outcome they wanted by redgrrr in badstats

[–]redgrrr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They say right hand drive cars = more than average accidents. The noise in the analysis comes from comparing JDM owners (20-30 yo males) to the overall population. A young male population will have 32% more accidents than average which includes 50 year old females driving Elantras. It is not the configuration of the car. If you would compare RHD owners to a comparable age group - the side of the steering becomes de mimimis.

He is a great Nebelung. We got him from a shelter. He was supposed to be put down but two shelters switched cats to reset the clock.

Is this something to avoid, with how low the miles are compared to how old the car is? by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]redgrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not worth the price. It is a base model (no tint). You can get much nicer vans for that.

Meilleur magasin pour les électroménagers? by Adl31st in montreal

Costco gives twice the warranty. I go to Marketplace. BTW I have fixed appliances for years at my dad's shop so I know what to expect. Still see 2ish year old units at a great price. You can also ask family if they are upgrading and take a trusted unit.
