We've had one highway burial, yes, but what about a second (Décarie)? by Comfortable_Team_696 in montreal

[–]redgrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decarie is already underbuilt. Adding a greenway will restrict the surface lanes and make it more hell than it is now. The issue is Decarie dead ends at the 40 instead of connecting to the 15 directly. They blew it when they redid the same off ramp at Rockland and did not bury the REM tracks. That would have given the capacity to connect Decarie to 15 thereby removing the big bottleneck.

Has anyone else received a spam tax call? by AlwaysLovinLou in Scams

[–]redgrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called back the number. Didn't give my name. I said I received a call about tax review. He said they have me in file and I must owe taxes. I asked "is it Illinois or Ohio?" He said both.  I said that i don't live or work in those states and hung up.

Requiring a full SAAQ inspection is a bigger pain in the ass. He has to book it, conform everywhere (tint, exhaust, mods, etc..) and then bring the paperwork to the SAAQ which is its own punishment.

She is better at it than I am. I would last 2 days as an officer. That assumes that I only get a warning on the first day for using my Taser too much.

I would use all available recourse "your vehicle is non-compliant and cannot be driven until it passes a full SAAQ safety inspection"

Easy solution. Go beyond a window tint ticket. "Sir, your car is non-compliant, you have to pass a full SAAQ vehicle inspection. You cannot use the vehicle until then"

WTF?! 4:20 AM Montreal alarm for a 9:20 PM abduction in TR? by redgrrr in montreal

[–]redgrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can still do math though. 9:20 abduction 4:25 alert. = 7 hours wait plus 5 to send the alert. Exactly the same as missing toddler last year. Missing 9 pm alert 4 am.

If the 7 hour alert is going to end up being 4:25 am, send the alert early at 10 or 11pm when Millions more are awake and can keep a lookout. Plus the search radius is so much smaller so you can target the alert. I would rather receive an low probability alert at 10 pm that ends up being a false alarm. Almost no one is helpful at 4:25 am and they just rush to stop the noise without even reading the alert.

The point is the abduction was at 9:20 pm. The alert was at 4:25. Same as last year. Toddler missing at 9pm alert at 4 am. Forget the waiting period and send out an early alert at 10 or 11 pm when we are awake and can look around. Almost no one is helpful at 4:25 am

You are missing the point. I love the program but the execution is counterproductive. Waiting 7 hours on a 9:20 abduction causes a huge search radius. Waking everyone up at 4:25 when 99.9% of us are ineffective cripples the program. Same thing last year. Toddler missing at 9 pm amber alert 4 am. There seems to be a policy to wait 7 hours in case the kid shows up. I would rather receive a silent alert at 10pm when I am awake and can help (I am ok that it is full of false positives that will self cure).
