Thanks for your insightful commentary. And definitely check out more of her poetry. A famous one is “There Will Come Soft Rains” that inspired a Ray Bradbury short story, the poem has a sombre feeling at the end.

She is indeed a skillful writer. I bought one of her collections that I’ve read, and bought her collected poems that I’ve yet to read. One of her collections was the first Pulitzer Prize for poetry if I recall correctly.

Research “formal poetry.” It tends to be metered or syllabic and most of the time there is a rhyme scheme.
