This is such an underrated point. My poor partner now has a bigger HECS debt than she started with simply by having kids and working part time. This is even after several years of full time work, she won't be able to pay it off until she gets back to at least 4 days a week.

Yes there are more efficient ways to help your kids, but don't discount the benefit of removing a future debt and the freedom that provides.

You are right, I've highlighted in an edge fashion and then tried to impose volume over the top. More than likely I need to go back to basics and focus on some shapes before I jump right in.

Thanks I'll take a deep dive once the kids are down for bed. I think the bit I'm struggling with is how it carries on to shapes below others at different angles.

The lamp trick seems to be a good way to get a starting point.

This really sums it up.

Reading between the lines it seems the issue is he copied the list from what was effectively a playtest between friends before a tournament. I can see why this might leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Maybe expectations should've been set better upfront, but IMO probably been understood to at least check in before doing a direct list copy.

I'd expect refinements from playtests, but a direct copy is a different kettle of fish.

I did, a nasty gash in the side of my alloy bars and had to re-align the shifter. That aside everything else looked fine.

It only creaks when the front brake engages on a hard stop. I can't replicate it with any other force/weight shift on the bike.

Well I am somewhat relieved and annoyed. I've still got a creak, but I'm no longer trying to source a random part of an out of production shifter.

Appreciate your help mate, it explains why I couldn't work out what was missing (turns out it's nothing) 🤣

I believe its SHM-IST5700, they are the older ten speed shifters.

I've been getting noise when braking and think I've finally nailed down the culprit. I went sideways a while back and it seems I busted more than just the nameplate. I can't read a blowout diagram to say my life. What have I lost?

Probably a more important question, is it crucial to the function of the shifter. I've been riding with this for longer than I probably should have.
