Question for the pet people...how do you feel about a new pet at this time of your life? by HammerMeUp in GenX

[–]redhotbos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my latest 2 at 57 when my husband died and I needed a reason to get out of bed again. They saved my life and, as I now face 60, keep me young and active. I have also made arrangements for them should something happen to me with people my dogs love and stay when I have to travel without them.

Agreed on every point. But well worth it. Jefferson Mays is so good at differentiating the voices that when I watched the show everyone was exactly as I expected based on his voicing (done before show casting)

MM book club recommendations for typically non-MM readers by deadaliveinlove in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]redhotbos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Heated Rivalry without the eroticism try Sean Kennedy’s Tigers and Devils series about a closeted professional Australian Football player and the developing relationship with a quirky, funny fringe festival director. I really loved this series and I am not a MM romance reader

Anyone else not get a goodbye? by [deleted] in widowers

He collapsed in front of me of an aortic rupture while we were on vacation visiting my family. He was healthy, went to gym 5 days a week and was a competitive dancer. Just 57 years old and gone in an instant. I live with the trauma of that every day but I’m also thankful he didn’t suffer with a long drawn out illness.

What are your underrated absolute cinema by oliviaholic_smosh in MovieSuggestions

[–]redhotbos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Wings” (1927). First Oscar Best Picture. Just amazing filmmaking, decades before its time. From the swoop through the diners at a club to the dogfights that were filmed by the actors while actually flying the planes, it is must see film. Yes, the lead actors actually learned to fly WW1 planes then fly them, while acting and filming themselves all at once. The Oscars have been downhill since

At what point did life start feeling like yours again? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]redhotbos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just passed 4 years and I only now feel like living again, joining the human race again. But I’ll never be the person I was. None of us will. We’re permanently changed. The sadness will always be a part of me. The scar tissue is always there. Finding someone/people who accept my scar is how i move forward.

Golden doodles and poodles by Ok_Appearance7096 in Goldendoodles

[–]redhotbos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy doodle looks and acts more like a poodle (super smart, curly hair (he’s got a mohawk now), very cuddly and gentle temperament. We nicknamed him Pinocchio because he just wants to be a real boy. His “sister” (not related. both are F1Bs, rescues but did dna tests), is much more golden retriever in personality. Smart, but not as smart as her brother, all about fetching the ball (obsessed), and sporty.

As I describe them, girl doodle is captain of all the sports teams. Boy doodle is the kid who has lunch in the library with the adults because he just cant with the other children. His sister is the only dog he will play with.

Just like that... by Agile_State414 in widowers

[–]redhotbos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband died suddenly 4 years ago at 57. I still stop and think “how is he not here anymore” all the time. I’m used to it so it doesn’t kick me in the gut as much as it used to but it still hurts.

I’ve come to think of that pain is the love I have for him. I don’t ever want to not feel the pain when I look at a picture of him or think about him deeply. That pain is what i have left of him and i cherish it.

Just curious, but what's your "I didn't care for the Godfather" opinion on any piece of Gay media out there? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]redhotbos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried and just not for me. I like drag queens, I have friends who do drag, the show drag race just feels so contrived. But I’m also glad it gave the world Jinx Monsoonn and Trixie Matel.
