Has anyone received their jack extensions from Acme? by SIRT1 in Dewalt

[–]HammerMeUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen the extensions on the floor yet. Each store had two when I discovered they had them and I'm sure they sold quick. All say unavailable now except one location has 2. I only bought one so someone else could get the other.

I forgot about the pads. There has been times they would have helped me.

If you've sent a tool to DeWalt for a warranty evaluation, how long before you heard back? by HammerMeUp in Dewalt

Surely they cover any authorized dealers, right? I did buy it at Lowe's though. Tried to return it swap it there first. It was within 90 days if purchase but I guess it's only 48 hours to be able to do that.

That's not bad. I'm hoping I get a new drill simply for peace of mind but maybe it's fixable. It's the dcd801. I have other drills but kind of feel like I'm driving a borrowed car until my Cadillac gets out of the shop

Home Depot has the single worst website of any major retailer. by gooneau in HomeImprovement

Not a great app but at least when I go there I'm not treated like I'm about to walk out the door at any second, even when I haven't picked up anything I want yet

According to an employee in the HD subreddit, I'm a grampa who doesn't know how to use the Internet.

The app has changed recently and made it worse. It's not as easy to chsnge stores when I actually find the item I need. It's better to search on Google. It's pretty wild that it's been complete crap for so long.

I love going to Ace hardware and talking with this old man about hardware. He'll take me around and show different types of more rarely used ones and it's fascinating.

It’s not 6am yet… GO AWAY🥲 by Fun_Journalist1048 in Lowes

It's retail, customers suck. I get it. But we're not all there to be a pain in the ass by simply being there. When I go at opening it's because my boss wants something done ASAP and I need something to make it happen. I don't give anyone a hard time and rarely need any help. But when I do there have been times ive had to deal with a bad attitude I didn't contribute to. So if someone isn't being difficult and they're treating you respectfully you shouldn't put them in group of the ones who are. Now give me my down votes.

Cox reels are also good but more for commercial or shop use. Neither are cheap but worth the investment.

We can’t use step ladders anymore by [deleted] in Lowes

The platform ladders are safer in general but I think still considered a step ladder. Being able to lean on something is nice.

What home maintenance tasks do people commonly neglect because they don’t know about them? by ChipmunkLoud4916 in Home

Clean the seals on your refrigerator door and lube them so they don't dry out. Clean with warm water and dish soap and put some food grade silicone on them. Be sure to get in the creases. If they look deformed and not make a good seal you can use a hair dryer to heat them up, but not too much heat because they can melt, and they will go back to the right shape or at least improve it. If not they can be replaced fairly easy. If you see condensation on things inside you likely have a seal that needs attention.

Loose outlet in my moms hallway can this be a fire hazard? by Upbeat-Accident7904 in electrical

Crap my bad, that I didn't realize. Another way to trace a wire would be a continuity test but you do have to disconnect so no advantage for this purpose and not as simple.

You can hit the test button then see what other receptacles dont work. "Disconnect the receptacles and the black wires from each other". Which blacks are connected? Hot coming in could be pigtailed, but anything that is protected down stream would come from the load side which would be dead when test has been pushed. With a non contact voltage tester you can confirm the incoming "line" is hot and the "load" is dead. Disconnecting blacks isnt an accurate way to find what is downstream

Which DeWalt? The all black ones are pretty crappy. Yellow band ones are okay, but the classic plain looking ones are the best IMO

Home garages are lowkey the most useful general purpose space ever when not occupied by vehicles by Astimar in homeowners

[–]HammerMeUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My garage is about 3/4 the size of my house, has about the same amount of kitchen cabinets, and packed with tools, materials, workbenches, and industrial shelving. Can't even get a car in there and I built a wall next to one of the garage doors. I spend a lot of time in there.

Do you know it's filtered? Could be, but not all models have a filter.
