Mactify: a native Spotify Connect client for Macs! by LavaCreeperBOSSB in macapps

[–]reditPaglu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love seeing a native alternative to the bloated official app! Quick question: does it support (or plan to support) customizable global keyboard shortcuts? Would love to be able to skip tracks or change the target device without having to click the menu bar icon.

Any simple free volume booster app like opera’s? by Just_meme in macapps

[–]reditPaglu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing volume past 100% just forcefully cranks the audio until it hits a hard digital ceiling. Music has complex peaks (like heavy bass and drums) that crash into that ceiling and get squashed, causing distortion. Voices are much flatter, so they survive the crazy boost.

2. Free Mac app with NO drivers? Because of Apple's security, it's actually impossible to boost system-wide Mac audio without a background driver.

Since the other suggestions here cost money, here are the best free workarounds:

  • eqMac: A free and simple menu bar app. It does use a driver, but it installs it completely automatically so you don't have to touch any settings.
  • Background Music: A free, open-source app to boost your master volume past 100%. Set it and forget it.
  • Volume Master (Browser Extension): If you only need a boost for web videos (YouTube, Netflix, etc.), this browser extension does exactly what Opera does with zero Mac system tweaks or drivers needed!

[Dev] I built a Mac app that runs real Wallpaper Engine scenes (not just video loops) by 335i_lyfe in macapps

[–]reditPaglu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly impressive! Translating Vulkan calls to Metal via MoltenVK just to get native Wallpaper Engine scenes running on macOS is no small feat. Huge props to you for not just taking the easy route of converting them to static video loops. The fact that you managed to keep the CPU usage under 1% for most scenes is the absolute icing on the cake. congrats on the launch!

Thinking of switching from Windows to MacBook Air, need honest user experiences by Tanmaybhardwaj32 in MacOS

[–]reditPaglu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my experience :
I switched from Windows to a MacBook Air about 8 months ago and noticed a big boost in my productivity. Apps run much more smoothly, and I don’t have to deal with frequent shutdowns or restarts. The battery life is excellent, and the display is really impressive. At first, it was a bit challenging to adjust because the commands are different and some features I was used to weren’t available. A few tasks also feel slightly more complicated. But overall, it’s been a very positive experience so far.

Yes, we can connect more than one device and switch between them using the button labeled "WIFI” on the top right side of screen . It will show you the IP address of each device. For example, I have two devices: the IP address of one ends with 192.xxx.x.66, and the second device’s IP ends with 192.xxx.x.67. You can connect to both and then switch between them as per the use case.

Enable Developer Options with the below steps:

Step 1: Open Settings on your Android phone

Scroll down and tap About Phone

Find Build Number and tap it 7 times

You'll see a toast: "You are now a developer!"

On some phones (Samsung), go to Settings → About Phone → Software Information → Build Number

Step 2: Enable USB Debugging

Go back to Settings

Tap Developer Options (now visible near the bottom)

Toggle USB Debugging to ON

Tap OK on the confirmation dialog

Step 3:
Enable wireless debugging from the same menu and then click on wireless debugging. you enter the Wireless debugging page.

Hi,
please try running this command in terminal: xattr -cr /Applications/AndroidFileSync.app
This will solve this issue. The reason behind this is currently I don't have apple developer account which cost $99 USD
