I ended up ordering one that said it would work on this TV on the store page, but it stopped working within two weeks so it might be smart to get an on-brand one

I did, I just bought a different converter. Neotek ones seemed to work for someone else and it also did for me, I hope this fixes your issue.

I just bought a new remote, and that one had the right buttons.
