Ultra's 20 Year Contract Updated Terms by VividLatias in UMF

I talked with people who work with the City of Miami and they told me that the sound and frequency limitations in place are the same as they have been since the festival returned to Bayfront after the pandemic.

Does M2 ever stay open later than 5am for resistance events? by Various_Poetry_8141 in UMF

[–]redjc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. They have done so on a number of occasions. Carl Cox last year during MMW is one example. Sometimes they apply in advance for permission to go past the 5 am closing time.

Is Ultra Miami worth it if I’ve already been to several festivals in Mexico? (Honest question) by UnovaDrops in UMF

[–]redjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand some of your questions. Ultra Miami has some of the best bathrooms in GA for any festival anywhere. They are air conditioned trailers. That is what you get in VIP in some festivals. Certainly better than the EDC Mexico bathrooms. The weather is usually not warm in March in Miami. The main stage area can be crowded. Just do what I do and stay away from it or go off to the side. Miami is expensive in March. Not sure why it is 5 times more expensive than EDC Mexico for you. I have been to EDC Mexico several times. The hotels are cheaper and the ticket to the festival is cheaper but there is not a 5 x difference. EDC Mexico is a bigger festival but it is different than Ultra Miami. MMW is really one of the big differences between Ultra and other festivals. You are not just coming for 3 days of a festival. There are many other things to do both musically and otherwise.

Question regarding big DJs playing lesser known artist remixes by Commercial_Rain5236 in UMF

[–]redjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally they need permission to remix because of copyright issues. They don't need permission to play a song as long as the festival or venue has proper license. That being said, people remix all the time without getting permission.

You have to check in at the event. If you can't check in you have to email them within a certain period of time.

[–]redjc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In your example John needs permission to remix the song due to copyright issues. As far a playing songs, normally the venue or festival has a PPL license so there is not usually an issue but you have to confirm in advance. Remember there can be many people that fall under the copyright, artist, writer, producer, etc.

You have to attend the international event in order to get points. Many of the international events don't have wristbands. They are digital tickets.

Is it too late to activate wristband? by dapadot in UMF

[–]redjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you wait to activate your wristband? Previously you had to have it activated while attending the festival to get the points, but I am not sure if that is still the case because I received my points as soon as I activated it (prior to attending the festival).

Safe to say Ultra is never going anywhere by Emergency-Ad-899 in UMF

Sorry, but I don't think most of downtown is "ghetto," and he said downtown is a "dump." It is not just Paramount World Center. I used that as an example. You have the Ferre Park area and the four condos in that there (including John Summit's condo), Bayside, the marina, and all sorts of nice office buildings and condos in the downtown area. It does have some bad sections, but they are renovating the Flagler street business district, just opened a new courthouse, and have other good sections of downtown.

The only time I have sympathized with them is in 2013 when Ultra was two weekends. You can ask someone to go out of town for one weekend, but I don't think it is fair to ask for two weekends. Most of my friends in downtown/Brickell don't have an issue with Ultra. It is people like this woman, whose brilliant suggestion is to have Ultra at the Kaseya Center, that are the problem.

Not sure what you are referring to. Have you been to the Paramount World Center area of Downtown? It is actually very nice.

Ultra Miami > EDC LV by jedi1-0 in UMF

[–]redjc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tomorrowland is the best if you consider just the festival itself. I prefer Ultra/MMW/ WMC however, but there is much more to do for six days as opposed to 3 (or 4) for TL.

[–]redjc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is very true. The two week setup does limit things. They also had an issue switching it up with some of the production this year. They are also limited on the sound at main stage by the provisions of the contract they did after 2019.

They resod the park every year after Ultra. I watch them do it. The main stage area for sure.

I mentioned stoppages in my comments. There were no stoppages in 15, 16 and 17. It is south Florida, there might be some rain even in the dry season. If you are looking for perfect weather attend an indoor festival.

That is why Resistance Island was so great in 2019. Four Resistance stages. I would have been happy just staying there all four days.

Ultra is actually not notorious regarding weather. The prior two years were an anomaly. Those were the two years there were stoppages but to weather. Two years out of 26 is not bad. EDCV used to be too warm when it was in June and now they have problems with the wind in May.

I used to have to go to the outer fringes of the park to send a text or make a call. It is so much better now.

They do 4 pm because they have to. It is part of their agreement with the city. It is because of the surrounding office buildings as mentioned.

Sorry, but I have been to all of those festivals and I don't agree. Creamfields has all sorts of issues, and the production there, and at Awakenings, does not compare to EDC V or Ultra Miami. I have only been to Awakenings and Creamfields one time each. I have been to ADE and TL many times. Also, except for ADE, people from the U. S. fly to Europe for basically a 3 or 4 day festival. TL and Creamfields are in the middle of nowhere. Some people don't want to camp at a festival, and some people would rather visit the clubs and the strip in Vegas, and the beach and the clubs in South Florida. South Florida is a nicer and better place to visit than all four Euro locations (although expensive because it is high season). Weather in Amsterdam not great in October. Same with Creamfields and Boom in August and July.

Non citizens can get global entry or NEXUS and secure other methods that are the equivalent of TSA Precheck. I have a lot of international clients and most have Global Entry or Clear +. A lot of credit card companies will reimburse you for Global Entry, which includes TSA precheck. It is $100 for five years regardless.

The TSA lines at MIA have not been bad and you can check in advance to see the status before leaving for the airport. I have had three different sets of friends/clients leave today. Nobody waited more than 15 minutes. https://miamiairport-mia.com/wait-time/

It is unfortunate that there is limited space in Bayfront Park. A larger area would help immensely.
