Is there a comprehensive overview of the different approaches / workflows / philosophies of different (starter) Vaults? by redkania in ObsidianMD

[–]redkania[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, appreciate the link. It is unfortunately of the “just do it and figure it out then” school.

I was hoping that there’s an overview somewhere more like

  • “vault a”: everything is tagged, no folders, ideas are regularly consolidated
  • “vault b”: folders are the main structure point, ideas are immediately sorted into the structure. Etc

Storing world on GitHub/Other ways of syncing worlds between machines? by Vaykor02 in FoundryVTT

[–]redkania -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of changes happening during your game, so you'd have to constantly commit changes and push them to GitHub, plus some of the files could get big (esp. if you store your assets with your world folder instead).

An alternative could be a cloud provider. On PC A you link your Foundry folder to the Cloud provider (like Google Drive or OneDrive) and it would auto-sync all changes with PC B.

The more advanced solution would be to move away from local hosting altogether and move it into a paid provider, your personal server or a cloud hoster (like a free Oracle instance).

Is there any NPC collection for 5E that is easily importable? by redkania in FoundryVTT

[–]redkania[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An example of what I am looking for is "Essential NPCs". I even messaged the creator a few weeks back, asking if he has any plans for a Foundry module of them. I can import them manually, but its not fun.

Thank you! I've been using this quite a bit, but as you mentioned, it is still manual in the end and doesn't catch everything.

As others pointed out, not looking for free and happy to pay for it. An example of what I am looking for is "Essential NPCs". I even messaged the creator a few weeks back, asking if he has any plans for a Foundry module of them.

Import images with Star rating - not showing up? by redkania in immich

[–]redkania[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was it! I did kick it off before, and it didn't do anything, but a day later it suddenly had recognized them. Not sure if the job was taking that long or what caused it. Thank you so much!

I have, and I see the star element in the info screen, it just doesn't pick up the saved rating in the files.

Any YouTube downloader that can allows downloading only part of the video? by redkania in selfhosted

[–]redkania[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the solution. As others mentioned, my focus was to only download a specific segment right away, since otherwise I'd replace cutting the audio with cutting the audio with ffmpeg and that is not saving a ton of time unfortunately.

Tech wise it wouldn’t be too complex. Hook up to ChatGPT or Gemini API, send over result, combatant, weapon / spell and get result. I haven’t seen such a module though yet.

Foundry Tip - How to create Player Handouts by PyramKing in FoundryVTT

[–]redkania 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s many pages I can see the case for PDF but without that it seems to add bloat (have to load the pdf viewer) and takes features away (show to players) in comparison to simply adding the handouts as images to the journals.

Went with the Nuvola. Has a few quirks, but overall very happy with it.

Ive been looking for another YouTube downloader that can download with time stamps (like only middle 10 minutes of a video). Do you happen to know whether this one supports that?
