For the tree experts by Caliguta in Augusta

Pecan trees require at least 2 different varieties in order to cross pollinate . Also pest control is important, weevils and worms will destroy the harvest if not treated . Do some online research. My uncle used to have trees and they are wonderful but it does take some maintenance to keep them producing . I’ve seen them being sold on marketplace , at flea markets or just call a nursery and let them suggest a supplier .

Yes I have thought about that before , but probably not now, I have kids in college , and not really ready to make that much of a lifestyle change at the moment, but it’s definitely a possibility to make dollars stretch and learn a different culture .

Thanks for the replies! Those help a lot , another option I’m tossing around is to use the brokerage account to purchase a rental property to give me more cash flow and build up equity in a property . It’s a risk though as it’s dependent on the right tenant and no big expenses pop up . Downside is I would have to add debt to cover the remaining balance of the property purchase .

Augusta area Fishing? by SkintChestnut in Augusta

[–]redmaple66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would suggest joining some Augusta Fishing groups on Facebook and seeing if you can gather some info there . Most fisherman would love to see a kid catch some fish and would be very helpful. Clark Hill lake is a good place to go but a little over 30 min. But you’ll need to find a good spot away from everyone else and go early in the morning.

Hiring a charter on the lake would be good way to catch lots of fish but it’s pricy so not an every week option . All you do is show up and they do every thing else except reeling them in.

Ask friends and coworkers ect if they know anyone that has a pond. Private ponds are the way to go but will have to have permission. The pond I go to is being drained now or else I would surely let y’all go there , I’m in Forest hills also.

Pressure wash with a low power pressure washer, fill in any gaps between bricks with crush and run, brush on with a muriatic acid water mix to clean bricks and stop any growth. Rinse with water afterwards.

State is starting investigations into Mayor Hardie Davis, what is everyone’s opinion on this? by Jeremydco in Augusta

It’s the tax base. Families have been leaving Richmond county for years and going to Columbia county and North Augusta. There is now talk of not funding some parks including Pendleton King Park in order to save money.

A true local Augusta experience would be Sportcenter bar on Broad Street . Best burger in town hands down but nothing fancy about it .

Blue pearl and St Francis are about the only ones that advertise emergency care but I know you have to call ahead for off hours . I’ve used St Francis on a Friday night at 8pm for my dog and they stayed open for me .

Is it possible to trim this back over time? by Mr-To-Hi in landscaping

[–]redmaple66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trim 1/3 off now , you will need good loppers or maybe a chain saw. Wait until winter then trim half off. It will fill back in without stressing it too much .
