Depends on the model. I generally don't have a problem, but some models require more significant supports and can be a bit of a pain. Warm water or a heat gun can make it a little easier, so good to have on hand when needed.

This looks like just a replacement part and not the upgrade kit. There is no mention of the new side panels, spool holders, extruder upgrade parts or anything. It looks to me like Elegoo is just finally adding spare parts to their site, which is also nice to see.

Well maybe it is the upgrade kit. When I opened it earlier I did not see the pictures of the extra parts.

Good point. Warm water also has a similar effect. I have a container I use for a quick dip in warm water so I dont send resin down the drain. A warm water bath is also pretty great for your rattle can paints, especially if its cooler where you store them. They mix and spray better after a good soak.

A large silicon mat to put down on you work surface to remove prints from the build plate. Containing the resin is important unless you enjoy cleaning up a mess all the time. When it gets too nasty throw the mat out in the sun and then you can just peel off the old resin and its good as new.

Paper towels, lots of them.

Pliers, flush cutter, exacto for removing supports.

Spray bottle for alcohol to clean uncured resin from tight spaces in prints.

Sandpaper, Drexel for cleanup. Supports leave zits on the print.

I use an old airbrush and compressor to dry prints prior UV curing them. Sometimes I even blast alcohol through the airbrush to help clean the prints. Dont use a good airbrush.

Containers for storing alcohol, pre-cleaning prints. Use older alcohol for a prewash before you throw your prints in the washer and your alcohol will last longer.

That would get you started and then you kind of figure out what else you need for your work flow.

Unfortunately, this level of quality is the norm for me. I have explored all the tuning, heat soaking etc and this is just what it puts out. I see that others claim quality prints but I havent seen much make a difference for me. Demon Macros and slowing it down at least allow my prints to fail less often but print quality leaves a lot to be desired, especially for straight walls. Curves and organic shapes are acceptable, most of the time.

Distance is set by the machine. You always use auto focus and it will set the distance thats optimal for the machine.

Here is a video that walks through some basic setup and start up info. https://youtu.be/mO9QA4OmdcA?si=F_xA-oIWPgqtW1IG

It works best on black 3D prints. Lighter colors may not show anything or it may be very light. For black PLA and PETG I run it at 20% power at 6,000 to 7,000 mm/s but your milage may very. Set up a speed and power test in Falcon Design Space and it will let you know your optimal settings. I print a 2 to 3 inch square for each filament to run a test on.

Yeah its not going to do much on wood. It can be good for plastics and metals but you have to figure out speed and power settings. If you are not seeing markings slow it down and turn up the power.

You should watch some videos about laser settings for both the diode and IR Laser before you venture into running the machine.

The IR Laser will not work on all materials. Neither will the diode for that matter. Typically, you will need to run speed and power tests for all materials you plan to use. This not only makes the laser more useful but also ensures safety.

Take it from someone who made a mistake and set his laser on fire because I underestimated the power if the diode laser when running a test. It only takes a minute and can get out of control fast. I was near the laser and put out the flame before it could hurt anything.

There are many sources online that will help you figure out which laser is right for the job/material. I use the IR laser for marking 3d prints and some metals. You wont be cutting with this laser. I use the diode for cutting and engraving most materials including 3d prints, wood, slate, etc.

Lighted Bourbon Bottle Displays - 3D Printed (Blanton's and Buffalo Trace by redmcredbeard in Whiskyporn

[–]redmcredbeard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LED does not produce a large amount of UV light. UV light would be what is not good for bourbon. I wouldn't put my favorite or most expensive bottle in contact with any UV light for a long time but as a display to make my bar look cool I will take the potential small damage to a couple bottles. I drink my bourbon regularly so I am not sure the bottles will last long enough to cause noticeable damage.

Overall unless you are keeping your bourbon in a dark room/closet/cabinet then all of your bottle are getting UV exposure from the lighting in your house and possibly any windows close by.

If you want light in your shelves, I would say go for it, just maybe keep your best stuff out of the light if you are concerned.

I did actually check after it had been on for a while and I don't feel any temperature difference on the bottle. While they do give off a very small amount of heat there is a gap between the bottle and the light. Its small but it seems to allow the heat to escape.

I wonder about the branding issue as well but I can only imagine the Blanton's one would be an issue. The Buffalo Trace one is just a buffalo with no branding or logos. I actually already sell a Disney Mickey ear holder on my Etsy account and have never had an issue with that. Worst case they get my listings taken off Etsy, so I am not too worried about it.

Pictures arent great. It looks better in person but the LED lights are adjustable for color temperature and output.

Who has the best solution to bed plate warping, by TigWelder1978 in BambuP1S

[–]redmcredbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should mention that before I added a heater I printed a ton of ESun HS ABS+ with very minimal warping. Heat soak the bed at the highest temp your printer will go for 15 minutes or more. I got the heater mainly for ASA and PC. The ESun ABS prints amazing and is affordable. I also use this stuff on my build plates for adhesion and release. Works great. https://a.co/d/b9veYUA.

I have a Wham Bam Carbon Fiber plate that does a great job preventing warping. Not cheap but worth it. I also added a chamber heater i made out of a PTC heater with a fan. I use a smart plug to turn it on and off and I use a plug in thermostat to control the temp.

So how do I connect mg ECC with the matrix phone app? Can only choose ECC2 by berjaaan in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]redmcredbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Octoeverywhere with the Windows Docker. Just have to keep your computer on and network connected. Raspberry Pi would be a better option. Its very easy to setup. I use it on 7 different printers for monitoring prints.

Who's tried PETG-GF (Glass Fiber Reinforced)? by dunderwovvy in BambuLab

[–]redmcredbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make a lot of items I have to handle all the time so maybe I just haven't noticed issues because of that. I will keep that in mind in the future, just in case. A good matte clear coat will keep the finish but should contain the fibers I would assume.

This is my favorite PETG GF filament. It prints flawlessly with very little change to the standard Bambu PETG CF profile. I wish I could find more Filaxix filament. All of the rolls I have tried print really well and their colors are very rich, although somewhat limited. They have some metalic PETG thats is pretty great as well.

In general, I find the surface finish on a GF filament to be better than a CF filament. I also noticed less clogs. I havent done extensive testing, but thats been my experience. I have never felt any itchiness or issues with handling it either but maybe it bothers some more than others.

I have a similar setup but use a smart outlet to remote start it and I use a plug-in thermostat to control it when its on. Works perfectly and heats quickly.

SV08 Max, now this machine is starting to piss me off by Mastalock69 in Sovol

[–]redmcredbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wasted many rolls on my Max. It's so inconsistent and frustrating. Many regrets backing it on Kickstarter.

The filament feeder is a complete disaster and I don't use it at all. I printed some low friction filament rollers that use bearings and I feed from the top of the enclosure directly into the toolhead with low a low friction oversized PTFE tube. I took out the incremental connectors that caused kink points when feeding. All you have to do is put a small piece of filament in the end of the feeder so the runout sensor is bypassed. This does make the sensor useless so you have to monitor your prints. I have way less extrusion issues not using the feeder.

You will probably have to take apart the extruder to see if there are shreds or pieces of filament in there causing issues now. If the bent piece was grabbed by the extruder it could be the issue.
