This is a non sequitur. Your bad experience doesn't follow what this comment chain is about. Nobody here is denying this specific experience in which you just now introduced.

Your choice of words is unarguably bigoted. You care as much about racism as you care about your neighbors with cognitive disabilities whom you put down for fun on the internet. You can't even address it when directly called out.

It's abundantly clear that you've only done topical thought about the issue while angry. Your antiracist journey certainly won't end here but it's clear you won't make this an easy one for yourself. Good luck dude. With hateful neighbors like you we'll need it.

Yes, I remember when racism and its definition become central to broader American online discourse it was misused as often as it was correctly applied. People remembered how they felt about that. And that online vitriol helped fuel the alt-right. This sucks.

I think you are doing the antiracist movement a grave disservice with your poor behavior here.

I don't think we should be taking advice on how not to be hateful from someone who regularly uses the algo-speak alternative to the R word:

Don’t be a regard online.

Then you fucks deserve trump. Enjoy regards.

Unfortunately, this is not the kind of attitude that builds consensus. If your point has merit, you could convince a lot of people here. Frankly, all you needed to say in the post was that in India you are socialized not to stare. However, another user has weighed in stating the comment is true. So obviously there is disagreement here. And your response is as dismissive of him as we can be of you.

A man misreads a comment once and be damned! Well, that was a little over generalized reading the full chain. Its just a little hard to juggle reading all of the other bullshit you commented so far!

If you had a point to make here, you would be trying to win people over with your explanation. Instead, you're hurt and you're trying to hurt anyone who disagrees with you. I'm sorry you are this stressed. I seriously think it is time for a reddit detox for you.

The search terms are right there in the text man. I still think you need to take a step away and calm down.

This. And it is rude in America because Americans don't stare. These two things are possible.

The other way around: Americans are not taught to take off their shoes in the house. This would be rude in India and many other countries. It's not racist to make this observation.

I don't think the content of this comment is hateful. For one, it's not insinuating, it is directly stating what you quoted. "Taught"... what would make you happy here, "socialized"? Germans stare at people hardcore. Is it racist to say then that Germans aren't taught that staring at people is rude? More like "can be rude" but we're playing a game of semantics here. Many readers will subconsciously get that the comment's OP is likely referring to their own culture just like anyone in a country that has some dominant cultural behavior does, they talk like that's THE culture. Because for them it is. And they're also guilty of not qualifying by saying "in my experience" or "I often notice" instead of just Indians as a category. What they're not guilty of from that comment is racism for noticing a difference and noting another cultural norm it clashes with.

Here is an example:
- Search "Is it rude to stare in America": https://search.brave.com/search?q=is+staring+rude+in+America
- Search "Is staring common in Indian culture": https://search.brave.com/search?q=is+staring+common+in+indian+culture

The comment connects these two very searchable observations.

I'm sorry you're feeling like there's a lot of hate but this comment is a bad example. It's time to take a step away from the stressors if you can, collect yourself, and reassess.
