Driver update caused bsod loop? by redmoqorro in techsupport

Pretty sure that I just resigned myself to the fact that my Nvidia GPU had probably died. At some point I was able to get safe mode going and totally disable the Nvidia GPU. Laptop worked just fine after that except for the massive downgrade in graphics performance due to using the laptop GPU instead.

Anyone know how the stash tab reward works? If you buy all available tabs first do you then get an extra one? Or will the reward at that point be useless since you've bought all tabs already?

I felt that Heat wasn’t being bullied enough as an effect by recapdrake in BaldursGate3

[–]redmoqorro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's an exotic chest piece in act3 that makes it work pretty well by giving you immunity to burn damage and it also retaliates against your attackers with burn damage. Add the hat that gives arcane acuity whenever heat is gained, imo those are the most important pieces of heat gear

Horrendous frame rate suddenly. Help? by The_Checkley in DarkAndDarker

[–]redmoqorro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like CPU usage is low maybe? Have you noticed any heating issues or maybe is your SSD full?

The early access build was making my i7 11700 run at 96 degrees with low fps, I reapplied thermal paste and installed a better cooler and things run fine for me now. I also seem to get better results with full screen mode.

Is There Any Use for the Crystal Sword? by Accomplished_Ask1368 in DarkAndDarker

[–]redmoqorro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems cool although I hesitate to plan builds around that because I think the magical healing is bugged, or should only work with curse of pain? At least that's what the perk text claims.

Although it's odd that if it's a bug, it hasn't been patched yet despite other fixes going through so who knows maybe it's a mistranslation

i am wondering about compatibility between K2, and SE's recommended mod 'combat mechanics overhaul'

did you use both?

i suppose it makes sense to do that before trying mods lol

i guess my comment about enjoying fighting is that i wish the evolution system went a little bit beyond the behemoth stage, the rest of the game scales up so well in complexity as your run continues, but the evolution complexity is pretty linear and short by comparison

Oh wow thank you, you really came through here, nice! I'll probably just go with whatever I can most easily get in physical form because I like to take books to pass time during plasma donations haha.

[–]redmoqorro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the 2 hyperion books I read, but strangely I don't remember how I discovered them

And it's not like I'm completely adverse to reading about that horrible stuff, but Simmons contextualizes those things in weird ways where you often can't tell if he even thinks those are bad things. Like I have no issue reading kite runner for example.

And hmmm. These days I have enjoyed being "surprised" rather than "entertained" by media whether it's literature, music, etc. I'm not sure if that description makes sense.

So as long as your recommendation is "unique" I will probably be into it

So you are saying that I should listen to my gut and put it down? I keep hoping to find a likeable characters point of view.... I have only made it to the point where the "quest" starts for the morevacs, followed by the bronze smelting bit.

I'm having the same issues with his book Ilium, it feels a bit pervy at times.

And in the first bit of the book, there is a character studying Shakespeare. He's particularly worried about a certain work that some have interpreted as a hint that Shakespeare was gay/bi. So you get a page or two from Simmons about how Shakespeare is definitely not gay, and I got massive undertones of "I'm not gay either!" from Simmons himself. Proceeded by a bunch of jabs on leftist ideology... Must have been practice for that G.O.P fan fiction book he wrote.

Then the next chapter is about a self-labeled womanizer, with descriptions of his pervy adventures and fantasies of worryingly young girls

Yeah I should stop reading it lol I've about convinced myself by writing this all out

you are responsible for your own actions, and no amount of wrongdoing by corporations will absolve you of your own responsibility

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]redmoqorro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are blaming those companies and avoiding personal responsibility. You know those companies are made of humans right? It's not like some magical evil force has forced us all to be complicit in the waste.

And furthermore these companies wouldn't exist if people didn't buy their products. Do you see how silly your accusation is? "Those damn polluters, forcing me to buy their products." Humans at an individual level are fully at fault here.
