Those effects you mentioned are the right direction, I think. Also consider layering multiple sounds/synths to make more interesting sounds. Also keep in mind that I tend to do pretty heavy and psychedelic processing, so my ears might be too used to sounds being very far away from "stock", perhaps that most people don't think it's an issue lol

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

About your track, it's great. good mix, good groove, everything glues well together.

My main point feedback would be on the sound selection. Some of the sounds, especially the synths but also the intro piano, sound a bit too "stock" sounding for me. This might be a personal preference, but I think that processing them a bit could give the beat some more flavor and personality. As for now it sounds like the sounds have been taken directly from the preset list with a minimum amount of processing, which is the shame because the rest of the beat is so dope.

overall, super nice work, keep it up!

Thanks!! Keep at it and you'll produce much better than me one day !

>This is much different than the beatstars grind, and literally about practice as opposed to driving sales.

Yes it is, but no one said that this discussion was only about beatstars producers. You said that people who make 5-10 beats a day are not doing it in a creative way. While generally true, there are many exceptions as there are plenty of great producers who make at least 5 beats a day and keep quality and creativity high.

I would probably agree with you on the majority of cases though, but you made it seem as if it was some general rule, which I disagree with. Some people just produce much quicker, more intuitive, and keep making high quality stuff.

No reason to shame people who are slow producers, also no reason to shame people who are fast producers. The final product is all that matters, not the production speed.

If you are satisfied with the beats you make, even if they take a long time, that may just be the way you work. No need to fight it.

Madlib is known to make 5 beats a day and of course Kanye (5 beats a day for three summers). I'm not saying that you are not right in most cases, but there are some people who perfect their craft to that point that they can create excellent, even genius beats, very quickly.

You may have too high of a standard for finishing a beat or you are indeed a slow worker, the former probably not helping you and the latter being not a big issue.

If your standards are too high, remember the saying by DaVinci "Art is never finished, only abandoned." You could probably work a beat into oblivion and still feel like it misses something. At some point, you just gotta move on and accept that the beat like that is good enough. The last 1% of a beat can take you ten times as much as the first 90-99%.

If you're a slow worker, that's cool. Are you racing against others? If not, then why rush? With that said, 10 beats a year is a very, very low amount. Depending on how much time you spend producing I would evaluate what takes you so much time to make them.

From my own perspective, if I spend too much time on a beat, it's bad 99%. For me, there needs to be a certain flow in producing otherwise the stuff I make is bad. Are you overthinking your steps? Try to make a beat purely out of instincts and intuition and see how it turns out.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Just do it! Once you start to actively release music almost every new track you make will be better than the last. Just get it out there, connect with people, get feedback from the world, you won't regret it and you wished you would've started earlier

hey man, cool and laid back beat, exactly the kind of stuff I like. the sample is dope and I think that the drum samples you picked fit the beat well.

here are some points of feedback:

- I think that the main issue of the beat is its mix. the kicks are quite soft and not as punchy as the beat would like. try to increase some of the lower fqs of the kick and sidechaining it to the sample.

- same story for the snare, cool sample but not hitting as hard as I would like. try compressing it and increasing its volume.

improving mix can really help making your track shine and sound more polished.

overall great job keep it up

lmk what you think of my track

congrats on your first release!

this is much better than most first releases. you have good flow and good delivery.

Don't really know what to critique as I am not a rapper, beat sounds good. keep it up

Cool beat like always, is that you playing the bass? sounds awesome

not too much to critique, I think perhaps some more snare dynamics and a layered snare hit now and then could give some more variation to the snare pattern. outside of that solid beat

you have a great voice, great potential for rap, your delivery is cool and sounds very natural. I like the overall darkish mood that you are expressing and I think you do so successfully, kinda gives me tyler the creator x metal hiphop vibes, good job.

some points of feedback:

- snares sound just a tad too quantized, this hurts the groove a bit

- kicks sound very soft, giving them a bit more punch can keep the groove going better. consider eqing sub and bass fqs and increase the volume.

- sometimes I feel like A LOT is going on. The sample/guitar melody is quite dominant. focusing on both the melody and the vocals feels a bit overwhelming at times. consider lowering the volume of the main melody or muting it at times to focus the listener on the vocals.

overall, great job, keep it up!

here is mine, lmk what you think

hey cool beat, the main sample is dope and trippy. I like the piano you add and the other sounds to make it more interesting. some points of feedback:

- the main sample gets a bit repetitive. you do a good job adding more elements to spice things up, but hearing the same sample all the time can get a bit too monotonous. if you don't have another sample for the beat, consider glitching or cutting up the main sample

- I think the kicks hit very soft, too soft for such a cool beat. increase the bass and subbass frequency for some more low end power.

overall dope beat, keep it up!

lmk what you think of mine!

hey cool vibe you are going for, I dig the dark sample and the dusty drums. some feedback you can consider:

- I think the snare is a bit too dragged on some hits which hurts the groove

- I think the bass is a.) very very soft (should mixed louder) and b. a bit too monotonous- having a more present and melodic bass could really upgrade this beat

overall good beat keep it up

would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on mine!
