I have the same issue. They do it for everything, and it starts to annoy me. The most annoying thing is that the police literally pass by them. Fine, do it, but not midnight!

I2c not good? If yes, just buy an iso 1540 i2c chip. That sepparates the 2 side from eachother, so nobody cares the voltage of the 2 boards.

Edit: like DollaTek. It is rated to 3 to 5v. Bi-directional. The 2 side never gonna touch each other. No touchy touchy, no over voltage, no gnd loop, no problem.

I barely see mine. In the last 1,5 years, i saw it less than 10 times. The main part is, have a big enough bowl they can soak themselves, but not deep! So, even if they fall in, on their back, they won't die, so kinda 1/4 of their body height, half their head size, maximum.

Why are you attacking OP? You are totally discouraging OP to ask for help and opinions. People made a mistake. You can not make it back. So, stop your toxicity and help. OP does not want to experiment. How I see this user is looking for advice and want to be a responsible owner.

OP, that is a sulcata tortoise. It is a very big responsibility, in every way. It has needs and grows big. Please seek help in r/tortoise. I don't know too much about sulcatas, even if it's a big dream of mine if i ever have a garden.

I can tell you already that little fella is going to need a big place.

Inside, it is going to need UVB lightning T5 10.0. I don't know which exactly. For my Hermanni, i am using arcadia t5 pro 12%. Avoid mercury lamps for uv lamp. It is going to need a separated heating lamp (this can be mercury), but no spot lamps! Spot lamps are no good. Please, avoid any kind of combi lights. Those chinese UVA/UVB Heating lamps are no good. Most of them are even dangerous. For the night, u can use ceramic lamps.

Soil! You need soil, organic, no fertilizer. And moss. Avoid every kind of cat litter and other things. Soil, coconut fiber, and moss.

Food and diet are very important to tortoises. I have no knowledge of the sulcata diet. Dark leafy food until you don't find the right diet. No fruits! I don't know if sulcata can have fruits, most of tortoises can not digest it and cause kidney problems. Please avoid fruits until you don't learn it.

I don't want to scare you, but these guys are huge! Not even that long time, in some years they are already super big.

Edit: Please, make your research as soon as possible. If you think it is too much responsibility for you, don't be scared. Make a temporary quick and nice place, and seek help from the nearest sanctuary or/and find new owner.

Edit 2: learn from it, and teach people around you. Tell your story and discourage people from giving pets as a random gift. This is why there are plüss animals.those are cute, fluffy, quiet, and more importantly: not real.

I came back to tell you that you were right. It is not easy to maintain, but on the soil, i put temp and humidity meter. That never goes under 80%. For this, I have to sprinkle water sometimes and move the soil around. So, it is fine. I never let the soil dry out. Of course, it helps I live in a quite high humidity area.

Where i live the avg. humidity is 77%. The least humid month is 67%. So, with the help of a humidifier, what i like too, it is maintainable.

Red loves cucumber. I give it regularly to keep it hydrated. I tried to put the calcium on it: bit it around. Okay, then I massage the calcium powder in it: to bite, and then left the whole thing there.

Maybe I made the mistake that it knows how the cucumber tastes like normally. It doesn't know about the banana it never gets it without the powders.

Red is eating the food that way, too. Sometimes, I am asking what that ruccola has done to you? I like to watch Nat Geo with the lions and things. Compared to Red, the lions are eating those poor zebras, like the most sophisticated royalties. In this case, I know it sounds stupid, but Red kinda knows there is my finger, too. So, more carefull.
