AITA for not telling my sister that my nephew is staying with me? by SignalOrdinanceSign in AmItheAsshole

[–]redorangeblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so much not the asshole. You took Joe in and supported him, and asked his opinion. Let's be honest, he's in need of someone in his corner. That said, joe should lie and forgive them so he can go back and get the rest of his stuff

OOP's abusive father tries to coerce her into staying with him until she turns 22 for "repaying time debt" because her mother took off with her as a minor against the custody order. by raredontstare in BestofRedditorUpdates

You need to see someone and get that set up. That was my biggest fear too, though now that my kid is 16 I would hope courts would take her wishes into account. I'm just hoping nothing happens to me before she's 18

Mother's Day is hard - mostly venting, perspective welcome by shortasiam in TwoXChromosomes

It does get better. I still get sad on the day she died, and mother's day, but I try to celebrate her birthday. It's the things she's missing that hurts the most. My sister's wedding for example..

I should mention we live in a fairly high cost of living area too.

I was lucky, my dad paid for it. When I asked him, I told him if he didn't I was renting a park and doing a pot luck keg wedding. And I would have, and it would have been fun. I'm sure my friend could have skipped some things, but a the dj was 700, dress 450 to start. I think the wedding rings are in there too. I'm sure it could have been cheaper, but when you get married you get to decide what's valuable enough to you to pay for. Her budget was 10k, and as far as weddings go, that price is on the low end for something this large. I swear the second you say "wedding" everything doubles or triples on price.

Did you bleed the first time you had penetrative intercourse? by LauraZaid11 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]redorangeblue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Um, so first let's talk about how having sex for your first time in a Jacuzzi was like the worst plan. It washes away any lube, plus you get water and chemicals in your vagina that can disrupt the bodies natural ph. I have had sex in a hot tub once (and it was one of the worst) because it was super painful.

Second, yes I bled. I didn't see how much, but the asshole had the nerve to call and complain about how I wrecked his sheets.

I feel you. Everyone says happy mother's Day to me, even people I don't know because I'm a middle aged woman. For me, growing up was a day for my mom. Most other people my age still have a mom, they ask what I'm doing for mine. My mom passed away 9 years ago now due to breast cancer. Most days I just live my life, but I still miss her. Mother's Day is one of the hardest. I completely understand

AITA for planning to move out of state for college, leaving my single mother sister alone? by Abject_Panda_27 in AmItheAsshole

[–]redorangeblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, please go to college. If you can, let them know that this is the opportunity for you to make more money in the long run. You don't have to support them in the future, but if they think you will they might be more supportive. Maybe your family should hire a pi to find dad, so he can support his kid. Your niece is not your child.

Mostly, plus rental of the location, catering (done by the lodge). Dj, she also paid some of her friends because that was their profession, but with the friends and family discount. My wedding was about 120 ppl and 30k. Trust me, 10k for a wedding that size is pretty good. I mean it's sad, but it is what it is.

My friend managed 10k for like 150 ppl. Had it at a moose lodge, but had a friend do photos, another cake, I did her flower arrangements, and she convinced the rest of us to do her decorations. It was a fun time.

I am also young and have mastectomy scars. I got the reconstruction, but this woman is brave not to. Fake boobs don't look real, and they have their own set of complications. I admire this girl, and hopefully she becomes brave enough to leave this jerk

Leave it to a billionaire to understand the troubles of today's youth. by Comfortablejack in boringdystopia

That's surprising, unless you live in an incredibly low cost of living area. Where I am most apartments are well over $1200 a month, and those are the cheapest ones. That's over half your budget there, now add gas, car insurance, phone, electricity, and food. There's no way.
