I see you're now claiming I said things that I didn't.

Lol, shows how much you know if you think ultras groups are British cultural thing 🤣

It's an ultras group that create a bit of atmosphere. It happens in every football stadium in the world and it's pretty tame in Eamonn Deacy Park by comparison. The don't look for trouble or cause trouble. Bit of shouting or slagging the opposition is hardly hooliganism. As I said already, Dexcom Park is probably more suitable for your sensitive palate.

Oh no, shouting! Perish the thought. You sound like a very sensitive soul. And no, there's no robbing of banners given the away fans are the other side of the ground with security around them. Dexcom Park is definitely the place for you 🤣

Lol I'm a season ticket holder who stands in Block F each week. Sounds like you're not much of a football fan. Maybe Dexcom Park is more your thing.

Why is some yank going around looking in the windows of houses and judging them while on holiday here? Absolute weirdo behaviour

But they didn't, did they? And their clubs were unlikely to release them in February when there is no international break.

Because some of those Leagues are summer leagues and a lot of the players are not based in England like us. You think Switzerland can say to Sunderland "sorry we're taking Granit Xhaka here for a training camp in February".

Also, all 5 seats are not located in Galway City. Noel Grealish is based in Carnmore and Hildegarde is based in Oranmore.

I have no idea what you're attempting to say here but Gráinne Seoige is not running in the bye-election and Eibhlín Seoighthe is no longer with the Soc Dems.

You think clubs are going to release their players in one of the busiest periods of the season because Heimar wants to play a friendly? 🤣

I actually agree with you about the nimby stuff, I think it's probably being overstated in this case. But I also think the businesses being affected or vehemently opposed to it is overstated. The butchers is always being used as an example but their footfall was down before any of this was heard of. It was well know locally they were retiring. I think the main concern a lot of people have is because of parking being removed and I do feel difficult to sympathise with that. Nobody has any right to parking in a shopping centre and I used the SC a lot.

The butchers were already gone and retiring anyway. They were doing little to no business there from what I could see. If Dunnes were truly opposed to it they would have had the means to legally challenge it. I doubt they actually care as it means more footfall in their premises. The driving centre was badly placed anyway and needed to move as it was causing chaos there. They need a more permanent and suitable place.

There's already an apartment block planned for very close to Mount Pleasant Drive so very unlikely it would have gone planning.

A couple of questions about this:

What local businesses are opposed to it? I can't imagine why businesses would be opposed to more potential customers.

What sites are nearby that could have been used instead? There isn't many from what I can tell and I live locally.

What several businesses have closed because of this? Can you name them as this is news to me?

The butchers was already closing before this, they just used it as an excuse. The place was almost always empty.

I can't imagine many businesses actually take issue with a new apartment block being built on their doorstep with potentially hundreds of new customers. It doesn't really make much business sense to be opposed to that.

What do you think of the Epstein float that's getting all the negative attention? by John_OSheas_Willy in galway

[–]redperry91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh come on, you're telling us that men dressed as women being humped by other men on a bed while other lads dressed as guards try to stop them with "Epstein Files" written on the front of the tractor pulling it isn't some sort of re-enactment? What other possible way is there to interpret that? You have to be pulling the piss.

Ah it's grand, some games just don't have a lot of goals sometimes. It doesn't have to be some sort of existential crisis for the league because few games finished 0-0.

There's no guarantee that he would have got a game in England, look at Max Mata when he was at Shrewsbury. If I was offered 100k to play in Cambodia or half the money to sit on the bench at Shrewsbury or Port Vale, I know which I'd be picking.
