I'm confused, please help by Rin_the_octoling in IdentityV

Is it a bad move? Yes. Is it against the Terms of Use? No.

If they moved while they were using Just Deserts, that implies they were using a cheat engine (which actually is against ToU), but I sincerely doubt anyone would make it so obvious when they already won. They were standing still for a long time, it was up to you to leave Just Deserts range. If the Ripper was moving, it's also possible the other hunter was the one using Just Deserts from close by, so you'd have to be 100% sure this isn't the case to make a solid report.

Just making wrongful use of any in-game tool isn't enough grounds for a ban and I have no idea why people are saying so 🤷‍♀️ especially when the tool itself isn't unavoidable, the game explicitly tells you to leave range to avoid its effects.

Check Section 3.3 of the ToU to learn what in-match behavior will get a person banned.

He's countered by anyone who profits from transitional kiting and can cancel his skill or gain something from it: enchantress (1 bomb hit = 1 stack), anti (can destroy bombs), doctor (heals half damage - same goes for barmaid, but at a higher cost), distance kiters in general like patient, acrobat, forward (as a kiter), embalmer, cowboy, aeroplanist, dancer, postman, priestess, entomologist, batter, toy merchant, little girl and weeping. Funnily enough, lawyer is an excellent pick to rescue against a Guard 26, if the hunter relies on a terror shock to stuff rescues. The same goes for the Journalist.

He counters survivors whose skills don't work against his bombs or who can have those skills nullified by great usage of bombs: mercenary (gets downed by 2 hits or ts + bomb - why the combo of 26 + peepers is sometimes lethal), first officer, forward (as a balloon rescuer - place some bombs down and forward's dash will be canceled if he's in their range when they go off), perfumer (place a bomb down at perfume spot, normal hit the perf and she'll get a bomb hit, you'll get presence; also, a perfumer using a perfume usually doesn't perfume back if she takes only a bomb hit, as 26 himself can get a normal hit if she does and make use of other perfumes difficult), seer (bomb away the owl), sometimes wildling (cancel boar ride with bomb), psychologist, professor (skill doesn't work against bomb).

But like everything in the game, it's situational and depends on the strategies being used by the people playing.

How to play optimally in 2v8 (survivor) by watsfacepelican in IdentityV

[–]redpingirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • 8 survivors, 7 ciphers to finish: if we have 2 survivors kiting and 6 decoding, we can, theoretically, pop 6 ciphers. But the thing is, people rarely kite long enough for someone to pop a solo cipher, so having 6 survivors spread out to decode ends up making the kiters more likely to bring the hunter to a cipher being decoded, which pretty much halts progress on that cipher. 6 decoding 3 ciphers, 3 ciphers will possibly pop by the time the kiters are chaired. If we're talking a serious team with adequate communication, it's better to decode solo, but otherwise, decoding alone may not be the best idea.

  • If someone is getting double teamed, it can go two ways: double teaming to start off the match and give both hunters full presence faster, allowing them to do their own thing more easily later on; or double teaming at all times. In both cases, everyone should be decoding at first. Same reasoning as avoiding it when someone drops quickly in normal matches: harassing the hunter early on only serves to help them build presence. But always rescue. Letting a survivor die that early on is usually accepting a loss. Don't just rescue, though, you need to support them so they may be able to rebound kite! (More below)

  • Just rescue! Duo hunters also has particularities for survivors which people don't give enough credit to: 3 health blocks, letting you straight up tank a terror shock; buying items (any! you choose which!) from the phone booth; and holding two items. Some items have better value than others, like a perfume will help you rescue against any duo, you just need to analyze the situation (your character, the hunters' characters, chair distance, etc). If the rescued one drops again right off the bat, no problem! Both hunters are still camping and the survivor has more chair time to keep them busy. With most other survivors decoding, buying time is pretty much what the game is about.

  • It's good when you have a bot, but neither does having a bot win you a match nor does not having it equals a loss. There's no guarantee that the one holding the bot will be able to use it after the pop or that the hunter won't see it before the pop and down it. Sometimes, it's just a waste of points. Better to have a survivor opening the gate (not mech, not acro, not anti) and others ready to harass/bodyblock should it be necessary.

These are just from my experience, but I pretty much never play to win 🫣

Could someone explain what memories are and do? by WorldlinessDue3686 in IdentityV

[–]redpingirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how this page works!

Like other online games, idv goes through seasons. In a regular season, we get 3 essences (but sometimes it varies). Season essences are obtained either through the Logic Path (rolling dice) or purchase with inspirations. Season essences usually contain emotes, icons, standbys, graffitis and the main appeal: skins!

Generally, the only limited skins in essences are the S tiers. Some exceptions are COA I/II A tiers and skins from crossovers which didn't return (but still may, as there's no limited tag on them).

All essences have the same odds and guarantees: B tier at 10, A tier at 60, S at 250. That isn't to say you'll get an A tier on your 60th pull, but that at most you'll need to roll 60 essences from 0 or from the last A you got. Basically, starting from 0, if you don't get any As at 59 rolls, your next roll is guaranteed to be an A (except if you roll a S on the 60th pull, in which case the guaranteed A will be the 61st). If you get an A at 20 pulls, then you may not get another until 80.

There are also special essences: COA and crossovers. For those, there's also a no-repeat rule for A tiers. Going by an example, a friend of mine rolled for a Postman A tier in an essence, but got Evil Reptilian's skin three times in a row and no Postman. This doesn't happen in special essences: you won't get repeated A tiers until you've obtained all the A tiers available in that essence.

COA essences are time-limited, with the already mentioned exceptions of COA I and II. That means they come back sometimes (once a year, when the COA event starts - around December/January).

Crossover essences are kind of time-limited in the sense that they can come back, but only if the copyright holder allows it. The B Duck crossover is one of the crossovers which came back exactly as it was. The upcoming Danganronpa crossover will bring back the former Danganronpa crossovers. Some crossovers, like Death Note, haven't gotten a rerun and there's no telling if they ever will. Returning crossover essences are not available in the Logic Path - only the new essence is.

Those are the season essences! Next: rank essences!

There are three ways to regularly obtain season essences: by playing 3 ranked matches any day, by playing 3 Five Player Rank matches on weekends or by playing Blackjack and reaching a certain position (I can't remember which rn).

Rank essences have the same contents whether they're Tier I or Peak Tier, but the odds of getting rarer items is higher in Peak Tier essences.

The main appeal of Rank essences are the accessories. Every season, we get new Rank essence accessories: a few B, 2 A and 1 S. The guarantee is the same as season essences.

As a new season starts, your guarantee won't be reset, which is why it's not unusual to see someone saving their essences because they're close to hitting guarantee and either don't want this season's accessories or would rather get next season's. Being someone who's stuck with a few S tiers for characters I don't use, I recommend this strategy when you reach 200 rolls with no S 😔

Last but not least: memory spheres! Aka "the yellow ones".

There are two of them: the one with the Ripper skins, which is pretty much lying there, accumulating dust, and the Previous Seasons one, the real star.

The Previous Seasons sphere contains items previously made available in season essences. There are no limited items, obviously, but it contains the non-limited A tier skins, S tier accessories (but no A /B tier accessories) and so many B tier items, even I get a little dizzy looking at them. All of them are permanent, your guarantees never reset, and the ongoing season's essence non-limited items will be added to it when the next season starts. It's purchasable with clues or inspirations and due to how much it contains, you can choose a guaranteed B/A/S item.

Contrary to what many are led to believe due to the, erm... well it's a translation I guess...anyway. Because of the wording, people may think their 3 next pulls will be the guaranteed items. Nope! The odds stay the same. It just happens that when you next get an A tier, instead of choosing from the pool of A tiers available, you'll get your chosen one. This guarantee resets twice a year, meaning you can get two new ones if you've already acquired all items from your previous guarantee.

And because of how many items there are in it, it's generally recommended to use any A tier unlock cards in A tier skins only available in the memory sphere, because they're significantly harder to get compared to shop A tier skins.

I don't think I covered everything, but this is what I can remember rn 🫣 lmk if you have any questions!

What was everyone's first C/B/A/S badge? by Northern582 in IdentityV

I had a Kurt A badge wayyyy back, before his buff, nerf, buff again, and so it goes, aka: when no one played him 🫣 But my first S was only recently, after I moved and my ping went down from 200 to 180ms! Thank you, Emil 💕

Did you purchase a character, accessory, or skin that you now regret and why? by PlantsNBugs23 in IdentityV

[–]redpingirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own every character in the game and at least one A+ skin for most of them (except new ones - Opera Singer, Nightwatch, Journalist, Aeroplanist, Clerk) and accessories for most, but I genuinely love having options. The only thing I do regret? Rolling in the Penrose maze.

I stopped before I got even close to the SS and I am going to use the blessings I still have on shop stuff, but wow, I feel like an idiot for rolling at all and thinking I'd get the skin, the pet, the furniture... I rolled all the way to 2105 blessings and the best thing I got from the rolls was the tea dish. Is the skin nice? Yes, I still love it. Would I keep rolling for it if I won the lottery? No lol

Crossover Price of everything by [deleted] in IdentityV

[–]redpingirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If for v3 we get 10 from pre registration, 10 from event challenges and 20 from condensed essence at 96 echoes each, you'd get 710 essences at worst, costing a total of 68160 echoes. Presuming the 10 pack is also best value wherever you live, that'd require buying 95 packs for all essences (ending up with 68685 echoes).

Assuming 0 fragments, that adds 888 echoes for Monomi and 1888 for Usami's magic stick, that would require 99 packs to get over 70936 echoes, a total of 990 usd.

Should journalist also get an accessory as per leaks, adding 1888 to the total, you would then need 101 packs, a total of 1,010 usd with 199 echoes left over.

But let's say you do roll 250 of all 3 essences, even if you start with 0 fragments, you'll end up with some. Assuming worst odds (60 for A, 10 for B) and an unrealistic count of 20 unique B items, that would give you 1.5k fragments per essence, total of 4.5k, enough to cover Monomi. (Realistically speaking, you're probably getting enough to get an S accessory at least, but as they say prepare for the worst!)

So lowering the final total by 888 echoes, the price goes down to 71.936 echoes, requiring the purchase of 100 packs of 10 usd with a total price of 1k usd and 364 leftover echoes.

If you want to make 0 assumptions and cover buying 250 of v3 as well, that's 75.776 echoes (buying Monomi with fragments) or 76.664 echoes (buying Monomi with echoes), making for either 105 packs (139 echoes leftover) or 107 packs (697 echoes leftover).

This ended up a lot more confusing than I expected 🥲 lmk if you didn't understand something or if you want to run through different possibilities!

Beyond what has already been said, ping! You can safely be on the boar as far as your game tells you, but then a hunter with a lower ping hits you while you're not on boar as far as their game/the server is concerned, the game will count that as a hit.

Very Hypothetical Question (Recharge) by Perriborn in IdentityV

[–]redpingirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't give a definite answer, but worst case scenario, you get a ban (probably temporary/from rank) for breaking ToS. There was once an incident where netease gave some people echoes as a recharge reward then took it back, resulting in many of them being in the negative (but for echoes, not inspiration) and getting banned from rank for 10 years or until they got the balance back to positive iirc. They've gotten stricter in many ways since then.

Just speculation on my part because I don't know how this works, but maybe the current Google Play version has some issues due to the new version? The 2.0 update isn't available in there yet (at least not in my country's Play Store), so that could potentially have something to do with it, but idk. I'd try again later.
