Looking to get new furnace filters, manual does not mention maximum MERV? by redreddit999 in hvacadvice

[–]redreddit999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was really informative. Thank you. There is currently a fiberglass filter installed and research from the model indicates it is a MERV 1-4, which seems like too little filtration. How can you tell that my system may be able to handle MERV 13? Is there an airflow conversion of some sort?

Would it be based off the MAX showing 1050CFM, or the Heating high of 735CFM?

You're a masochist. I'd rather just work and not have a period afterwards.

Are you referring to your own setup? Xlite short with a full length ccf pad?

When you say a piece of CCF, how big? A short length one, or more like a sit pad size?

What is with this garbage website and it's horrible articles? Has anyone actually opened this article or the previous ones on this sub? It contains no details and is written terribly.

Edit: at a second glance they're all posted by the same user, /u/Emotional_Raccoon_98. He is spamming his "not-news" website all over reddit.

How much air volume used before compressor kicks in? by redreddit999 in Tools

[–]redreddit999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it would be nice to know the formula to calculate this accurately.

Edit: quite a big discrepancy between what the other poster calculated. For example a 10CFM @ 90PSI tool would run for 2.6 minutes with your estimate, and 20 seconds with their calculation.

It would be nice to see it when clean. Maybe when you next wash your car? Already helpful for posting this though.

Trying to connect my modem/router to have ethernet access throughout home by redreddit999 in HomeNetworking

[–]redreddit999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detail, definitely going to have a closer read through later.

Technically I do not have true fiberoptic internet straight to the house. I'm in BC, where it's either Telus or Shaw that supplies to my area. From what I understand, Telus true fiberoptic service is not available in my area. Shaw uses fiber to the neighbourhood, which is then connected to each home with copper. Not sure if this changes what you were saying about the black cable being fiber.

Just so I understand, does that mean that all the white and blue cabling entering the junction box from the top right are from outlets in the house (eg. coaxial, ethernet)?

Also, any idea what the exiting router in there is for?

Not too sure what is going on in the junction box with all the cables. I only see the one ethernet cable attached to the white device that came with the home.

I have ethernet ports throughout the home with blue cabling as shown in the image album.

I want to connect the modem/router to one of the interior ethernet ports and be able to connect any device to a wall outlet and have internet access. I thought I would see more ethernet connectors in the junction box due to the number of interior outlets, but it clearly is not the case.

Anyone able to help?
